kcinsu
yeah... but the course credits dont really mean anything.... I mean, its the knowledge, not the transcript. people would certainly turn down a lousy berklee grad, in favor of an awesome self taught. in the music biz, its what is done the best, the fastest, and the cheapest. I actually think it's a funny show, but I understand the critics. My partners and I just did a really cool commercial just for adult swim in general and I think it's going to be a big hit, but we are trying to keep the rights to the beat since we put so much effort into it and its a damn good one if ya ask me :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/30067-namm-2008/page/2/#findComment-637365 Share on other sites

Brandi_B
I'll post some of my music on here eventually. For the time being I'm waiting to finish my album to post anything really. Here's a beat I helped with and I'm playing guitar on this song in the background. My homie metaphor the great is rapping. I'd really like one too, and agree the rack is a great idea, I'm all about racks. But I'd have a hard time not buying the poly evolver before the prophet. Even though they are based on some of the same things, they both sound very different, and the poly has different options (digital oscs, feedback, etc). Though less voices. Electronic music is my biggest love but I like hip hop too and don't mind making it one bit :) Working with a smart and talented rapper is also a bonus, not a big fan of pain in the ass to record rappers. ten fingers ten toes
Every example I've heard from the Prophet '08 sounds like Human League 80's stuff, for obvious reasons. I've just been left really uninspired by it, how much is the rack version going to retail for? I definitely agree that keyboards are more and more redundant anymore. To be honest I hope at some point the interfaces are as well. Wouldn't it be much better to have some software on your PC that would route a dedicated USB/MIDI control surface to whichever instrument you wanted (or across multiple instruments from one control surface). It just seems like a lot of doubling-up goes on when you get 15 synths that all have just a bunch of knobs. The suggested retail price is expected to be $1,649.00 and we hope to be shipping in late March or April. - from dsi website So about 1500 ish i'm guessing. What you're talking about would be awesome yes. You could actually set somethign like that up with a g2 and the midi modules. But it'd be with midi and not usb, and you'd have to have a decent midi interface and spend the time doing it. You can do it with midi ox and a regular controller too. BUt having it all set up and automatic would be the jam. There's some decent sound clips out there, but yeah most of them are pretty bad. Check harmony-central, or vintagesynth forums. They both have huge threads on the prophet containing lots of samples people that have bought it made. Some of the beta testers put out some clips too. i'm off to the bar :) Edited January 18, 2008 by Brandi_B Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/30067-namm-2008/page/2/#findComment-637393 Share on other sites

I've always liked the prophet 5 sound and the 08 comes pretty close to sounding like a prophet 5. it also has 8 voices, whereas the polyevolver rack has 2 analog/2 digital voices and no knobs : ( Also, it's great to hear that you guys are planning on working on more songs for that show cause they're a very memorable part of that show. Brandi_B
Thx for the feedback guys :) I have more to add to this thread in a while. Quote I've always liked the prophet 5 sound and the 08 comes pretty close to sounding like a prophet 5. it also has 8 voices, whereas the polyevolver rack has 2 analog/2 digital voices and no knobs I was talking about the poly evolver keyboard. The rack is only good for expanding the voices. I had a mono evolver desktop and the sound was incredible. But the interface was so damn frustrating I sold it and bought NI Komplete. Every time I made a good sound I knew that to make another one it would take forever and the software editor was a joke. BUt this is the answer to my probs. But a g2 will come first.
