Autechre Tankakern

Is probably the best track on the new album, anyone agree? My general thoughts so far are that some of Autechre's hip hop oriented fans might not like this, it's beatless in many parts but not exactly ambient either! It's spacey and alien as usual and the tracks seem to change in style. Another highlight is FWZE, it's more in the style of techno like Fermium of Untilted.

To summarise, after one listen, I would say it's good at the moment, defo worth the 7 quid, although I will probably like it as I listen to it more.

Tankakern immediately caught my attention when it was aired on Marry Anne Hobb's show. It sure is a great track along with plyPhon, imo.

IO is pretty wicked.

starts off sounding like Dial then goes all EP7 towards the end.

Tankakern is excellent, I'd pick it to be the representative for the album for sure.

Altibzz made me mad nostalgic, reminded me the first time I heard autechre.

I hope either or both get worked into the liveset in some twisted fashion

Just realized there are birds at the end of this song, like real life birdsong sounds. This is crazy because 1. i've listened to this song many times 2. the rest of the album is so synthesized and abstract

Might be synths, accidentally made synth birds with a drum VST a while back:

The album is loaded with voice samples, so why should birds be out of place ?

No i swear to god it's real actual birds, you can hear ambiance as well. Just out of place i guess cause even the vocal samples on the album are processed, but the birds are just...there. Clear as day

There's muffled lion poof farts buried throughout the whole album too... gotta have a keen attention to detail, but every 47 seconds or so, you'll be able to hear it. Just.... this little ***fffft* cat fart, followed by Sean whispering 'Lion' in a vocoded sample that Rob added enough reverb and distortion to so that it fits alongside the percussion, usually a bongo type sound.
