squarepusher ultravisitor

upon listening to this album, i have concluded that squarepusher does a hell of a lot of lsd.

Ultravisitor is my anti-drug.

i don't like the mastering

i probably don't like the mastering because half the tracks are live.

i'm still not totally into this album. i listened to it when it came out, was just kinda... meh.

a chain of synchonicites has inspired me to take a second look. i'm gradually getting into it... it's kind of like electronic music metal...

the mastering has always been abit off on all sqp albums, imo. he does have his way of compressing the drums, which is a pretty good telltale sign if a track is squarepusher or not.

Squarepusher usually gets Frank Arkwright to do the mastering (who also masters for Ae, Plaid and Two Lone Swordsmen) but it looks like he's buggered off to work with the likes of Arcade Fire and Biffy Clyro :fee:

Ultravisitor isn't the best Sqarepusher album but there are a few standout tracks on it (50 Cycles, Steinbolt and Tetra-Sync) and a lot of good bass on the live tracks. Never really totally got into it yet but I've been meaning to have another listen to it this week on the walkman and re-appraise :OK

This is what Steinbolt reminds me of.

A lot of really top tracks on Ultravisitor! There are a few tracks that don't quite work for me, but most of it is the shit maaan.

Tetra-sync is really cool to listen to in the car taking long trips.

i love this album........its like a journey.

I agree. Definitely my favorite album of Tom's. However, I find it very fatiguing to listen to. I think it just gets too drawn out towards the end. In particular, Circlewave and Districtline II are good songs (Districtline II, not so much) but I think they should have been absent from the album because they ruin the pacing. It's as if they cover ground that the album has already been over or will be arriving at shortly.

Oh, and the "classical" bits are awesome.

Ultravisitor is great. Iambic 9 Poetry and all the other jazzy tracks are good I think. 50 Cycles as well.

God I love this album so much.

I've been completely addicted to it lately.

It's amazing , ultravisitor = blisssssssssssssssssss.

Iambic 9 Poetry is simply beautiful.

I think it's just a more bassy/distorted version on the superior Go plastic. plus add ther live edge. It works... but I think the idea was fleshed out better with Go plastic and Music is a rotted one note to some extent.

i felt the same way on first listen. i was pissed, thought it was a poor effort and threw it aside for a few months. now when i do listen to it, im drawn right to all of the acoustic pieces. i wish there was an iambic poetry set, we missed everything leading to iambic 5 and everything between 5 and 9. this record didnt hit me at all till one night having friends over for a couple of beers, i threw this on and just let it play. its pretty solid, not a head bobber but probably the only other step to take at that time as far as expanding his sound.

Number one album of music ever made. 

This album seems to be blowing my mind. So I love it!
