plaid Plaid

I've gotten a few more requests for a Plaid subforum, and my reasons in the past for not putting up a subforum have been due to Plaid having their own "official site" (although no forum), and also Plaid not being one of the artists we cover on WATMM (I know, already inserting my foot in my mouth...). Plus, I personally feel their output is a bit hit-or-miss, with their more recent output (IMO) bordering more on the 'miss' side of things for me. Granted, Plaid do have their place in electronic music history, especially if you include the Black Dog era. Although, like Joy Division/New Order, I don't really connect the two acts other than they share some bandmates that carried on after the demise of the previous incarnation.

But, I figure, why not - if there's demand for it, having a forum wouldn't hurt, although the Plaid-related threads I've recalled seeing are few and far between.

And, before any Snares fans start saying "what about a Snares subforum...", let me reiterate, there will NEVER be a Snares subforum on WATMM. Period, end of story. Ain't gonna happen, sorry. Nothing against Mr. Funk personally, I just can't stand what he produces that is mistakenly referred to as "music".

So, let's vote, see what WATMM in general says, and if there's sufficient demand, we'll give it a shot. Worst thing that could happen is it's a dead forum (no posts of value or activity), and the few posts generated get shifted back into General Banter.

I love Plaid and think they be electronic music lords, so yes, indeed.........

i voted yes, defo. i think their back-catalog is extensive enough and most of their music of a good enough quality to warrant a sub-forum of their own. i had suggested this in passing before.

I love Plaid. Not For Threes is an awesome album.

They are as deserving of a subforum as Luke Vibert or mu-ziq. Which is to say, undeserving. But if you're going to have the other two, why not Plaid? They're like the Al Gore of electronic music.

While I do enjoy Plaid, and I really hate making music into a competition, that statment needs some serious qualification.

Can we get an album subforum already? I'm tired of people like Rook mucking up our perfectly good Ae subforum with Confield threads. Get a room, jeez!

for fuck's sake....don't make a fucking Plaid subforum...what's the point of that? no one will use if after a week and it's not like they do very much any more.... totally bad idea. you may as well have a bloody Brothomstates subforum or a Clark subforum or a Prefuse73 subforum. a plaid subforum would be a hotbed for heated discussion, such as the µ-ziq and vibert ones. is this a plan to move gen.banter exclusevly to poop and cheese discussion?
