Hello everyone,

i'm the chap who uploaded the torrent yesterday morning of the recording i'd made. i wanted to let people on here know, but my account wasn't authorised, so meh. Anyway, thanks to Kokoon for sending a message, & for also explaining about stream ripping—for what it's worth, i'm glad someone's done that, & i'll be listening to see what differences there are! Am i right that this stream rip misses the beginning though? My recording (which misses nothing at the start) is 12:04:21, so how long's this one?

Anyway, it's good to be on this forum finally! :ok:

welcome!

yeah, this one's missing almost the entire first track, total length is 12:00:37.

It could also be a difference at the end? Different cropping? Maybe silence at the end of the set?

I'll verify this later when I'm at home as I've recorded the first six hours myself, I'll verify that with the watmm-streamripped-torrent from Bob Dabolina.

Yeah, teeing up the stream rip was the hard part, basically refreshed autechre.ws every minute or so approaching 8:00 until the link became available, fired it up in Winamp, then fired up Streamripper. I must not have been a quick draw, though I don't think it was *too* far off from the start. Since it picked up partway through the first song I cleaned up the stream rip by applying a fade-in using mp3directcut (no re-encoding). Just out of curiosity, how were you able to record from the absolute beginning (was there intro silence)?

i was refreshing the autechre page every couple of seconds too. At about 19:59:40, it wouldn't refresh, but said "forbidden" (i started Sound Forge recording now), so i knew they were updating the page. Then a few seconds after, the page reappeared with the link, which i instantly opened in Winamp. There were about 6-7 seconds of silence, before the opening track began.

So... i got it all, & having compared the stream rip alongside my audio rip, there's no discernible difference (& i'm far from caring about such things!), & this is also the response i'm getting from others who now have both. So i'm sticking with my complete recording!

OK, Bob Dobalina, your stream rip and my version differ only 1min1sec.

I'll provide the first 1:40 of my rip in WAV for all of you who think they might miss something and want to append the first minuto to the stream rip by Bob: http://sharebee.com/1f4a6727

Hello good people,

firstly, I want to thank Ephphatha for doing a great job on uploading the torrent, I'm listening to it now and it's much good stuff =) I fell asleep during parts of the live show, so this makes me able catch up on ae, and to relive the best moments.

Now, I have a small issue, and I'm wondering whether some of you have it as well.

The torrent is, according to the forums, 12h 4m 21s. My WMP however, says it's 14h 31m 54s long. VLC says 11h 32m 33s. Only foobar tells me it's 12h 4m 21s, which we of course know is the right time.

Anyone know how I can fix WMP?

You're welcome—i'm really glad this webcast has had so many enthusiastic listeners. When the 2005 one happened, i'd only recently got into their music, & missed the webcast completely. It's good to be a passionate fan & actually catch this one! :yeah:

This is fascinating, & weird. i can only imagine it's something to do with such long files; i've seen audio software get confused with really long mp3s before. The duration reads perfectly in both iTunes & Winamp, if that helps. :ok:

Interestingly, despite this being the case, & both programs giving the overal duration correctly, they don't track it exactly in sync. Someone's sending me comments on my blog, giving me the start timings of certain tracks from iTunes, & these don't match up exactly with Winamp. It has to be something about the overall length, doesn't it? i guess the programs' inaccuracies become much more apparent when it's over a 12-hour duration!

I did a streamrip. As far as I can tell (I'm at work atm), mine starts at the same time that Ephphatha's. But no transcoding - therefore mine is the BEST. It's on slsk but that's a pretty poor medium for a file of that size.

Incidentally, funniest moment ever in the webcast - at 522:01, where the "Brookside" theme music comes in just after the Jean-Michel Jarre track it sounds like! :teeth:

Can anyone remember which Jarre track it is? It's too late for me to go rummaging through my collection, & i wanna update the playlist...

FWIW, this occurs at 521:56 on my version, according to winamp.

Sadly I don't know what Brookside is so the joke is lost on me. Indeed it sounds funny and corny, though, and it does sound like the preceding JMJ tune. :on2long:

It's an English soap opera, kinda like coronation street. It's set in Liverpool and is pretty low budget. Just the faces of the characters in it make me rofl - especially Jimmy Corkhill - but that's just my broken head

i'm with you—all very funny!—but it was so stoopid, i started laughing when they brought in the theme tune, then i started laughing at the characters i remembered, then i started laughin at the fact i was laughing during an Ae webcast...

...talk about a giggle loop!! :teeth: (reference to "Coupling" for the UK folks out there)

Would be kind of you or anyone else to seed it as a torrent. :shuriken:

Seeing as the timing appears to be within seconds of Ephphatha's (and taking into account that differences could come from the player, the different encoding, and that there was apparently some silence preceding the first track), it will most probably be the whole thing. If it's error-free I'd say it would be better to propagate this version. I don't have it (yet) though.

Well, Mista Dobalina, I could care less about re-encodes vs streamrips on a 96kbps mono source. And I've been loving your version. So thanks.
