Guest hellomynameis
I've decided I can go for either of this synths but they are around the same price but is the 106 worth paying £20 more for? Or does the JX3P win? Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/31489-juno-106-vs-jx3p-pg200/ Share on other sites
Guest analogue wings
The JX wins. Juno prices are inflated cos Nu Rave indie fashion fags got told by their brother's mate that a "Juno" is a good synth. ten fingers ten toes
You can convincingly emulate these and much more for less money, with a used Nord Modular. I feel the need to mention this to everyone purchasing these types of older synths. SCONES TO DIE FOR
The JX3P is a great synth. What it has over the Juno is two tunable oscillators. But it doesn't have a mono mode or portamento. Also, if you're running a midi sequence, you can't tweak the knobs on the PG-200. You'd have to solder a mod to get it to do that. Guest greenbank
i'd say the juno 106 personally but i'm into the awesome 80s sounds a lot. chorus!! juno 6 though... mmmm! jesus himself plays one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeLuO6vZJ_g [edit] - although i think there's a rackmount version of the JX3P which if you don't want the keyboard or are happy using another through midi might be a lot cheaper than the regular version. (i've no idea on prices but rackmount versions are usually less in demand and less pricy for the same sounds) Edited March 2, 2008 by greenbank Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/31489-juno-106-vs-jx3p-pg200/#findComment-670479 Share on other sites
Guest mattp
I had both for a while and I think I preferred the sound of the Juno 106 it just sounded "fatter" and seemed to have wider tone palette. The JX-3P sounded a bit "thin", but on the plus side it made nice metallic sounds and had a groovy built in sequencer. Guest hellomynameis
well the jx3p sold with the pg200 before I had a chance, there is another for sale without the pg200 but is that really worth it? Is the PG200 worth £150 extra odd? Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/31489-juno-106-vs-jx3p-pg200/#findComment-670528 Share on other sites

You can sell a PG200 by itself for almost what you can get for a JX3P. Just mentioning because people spend tons of money on stuff then never do anything because its either too limited, too broken because of age, or both to end up being useful. Guest hellomynameis
the only problem is that the nord modular keyboards cost shitloads compared to what I can afford right now, I don't have £1,000 to spend, although I would really really like to own one. ten fingers ten toes
Used Nord Modular G1, You can get a micro for like $300 (150 GBP), a Rack for about $450, or a keyboard for like $550-600 (300 GBP!). Guest telikan
I wanted a JX3P for a long time but ended up going in a different direction. What really made me think it was sweet though was the fact that it's on every Unai track. kokoon
i have both at the moment and if i had to choose just one, i'd DEFINITELY go for juno-106 the jx-3p just sounds "not exactly the real thing". but then it might depend on what the real thing is for you.
