Without fail, the songs that have extended versions are better for it.

I'm really into Altibzz, Phylopon, Perlence range 3, Simmm, Tankrakern, WNSN (really a new direction for them), and Chenc9-x.

The album has a lot of squelching. Especially in the second half.

It's growing on me a lot. I like it a lot now but I think it's definitely less polished than the last few albums. Probably less so than any album since Amber, in fact.

This will definitely change again, and I still need to get my hands on the "versions", but lately my favourites have been

Plyphon

Perlence

Simmm (first half < second half)

Steels

90101-5l-L

Chenc9

Just chronologically. My top favs would probably be 90101-5l-L and Perlence. I don't get why Steels seems to be hated by some...?

steels is one of the coolest audio experiments Ae have done...it sounds like a bunch of alien machines yelling at eachother. But I think the gem of experimental beauty on here is Fol3, I've never heard anything like it in my life, and it just asplodes my brain/..

Salvatorin, I really like the way you build up the visual language in your vid. It goes well beyond relying on the water/whale-song metaphor in the music (I know, dolphins aren't whales - but they're closely related) and syncs motion quite nicely with sound.

My favorite Quaristice track is Perlence. I think the album version is perfectly composed.

Outh9X is a close second - an amazing closer after the fake-out ending Notwo. Following that is Steels (I love Autechre's more abstract work) and paralel Suns, then chenc9 and The Plc (lots of seeming non sequiturs that somehow work together - the first time I heard it, I found it baffling. Love the vocal cutup at the end).

On versions, Fol4 is amazing. In one of their interviews, Autechre referred to a very long track that they considered putting in the middle of Quaristice, and I think this was it. Otherwise, I prefer the shorter versions. I liked being able to hear the choices made, the excised material, but on the whole I agree with the final form the tracks took. They left the best elements and put them together in a way that made them even more powerful.
