I'm thinking Dalmore since that was one of the more reasonably priced ones. Guest maus
when this thread started, what, a week and a half ago, i was completely ignorant of all things scotch. now, i've realised i have a particular fondness for the islay malts, particularly laphroaig. lagavulin's not too bad, and i scored a bottle of caol isla 12 (courtesy of my generous girlfriend) tonight, which is also quite nice - has a good measure of the seaweed / phenol boot-to-the-nose that i so love about islay malts. none of them really compare to the majestic flavour EXPLOSION of laphroaig, though. i've just never had anything like it. also got a bottle of oban and macallan 12 - both nice, although they seem harsher and more traditionally "whisky-like" to me... i do like the macallan when it's 2 parts to 1 part cool water though - lovely caramelly flavour. love. i'm spoiled. c Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/31561-scotch/page/4/#findComment-681463 Share on other sites
Guest Quixote
I bought some Laphroaig to pass this Saturday in a way Kaen would approve of. pylonbitch
just for the record, scottish people call it 'whisky'. or 'single malt'. 'scotch' refers tp pies and eggs. or tape if you're an american. Guest Iain C
I don't know if I'll ever enjoy the taste of whisky. I can imagine it's quite a lot of effort to "train" your palette not to taste them all as disgusting spicy water. Just throw some cola in there and be done with it. (and the best all round smoke malt for under 50 $ laphroaig CS) brown how's that 93 murray's mortlach if i may ask freely? *tightens bow tie* Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/31561-scotch/page/4/#findComment-787117 Share on other sites
