This is one of the alternate names for a Peel Sessions 2 track, I think Gaekwad, which is indeed one of their best tracks.

I'd have to make it an 8 and get rid of Autriche and Maet tool. Don't even like those tracks much less being in any sort of 'best of' list

I think I've listed mine before but they will change up so here it goes again:

Surripere

Latent Quarter

777

Cipater

Nuane

Iera

VL Al 5

Under BOAC

Pencha

Rsdio

if anyone here HATES any of these tracks let me know because its always interesting to see how the taste differs between ae fans

I'm not huge on Iera, what do you see in it? Theres just so much better stuff on Untilted IMO.

Also I love the second half of Latent but the uber farty-bass that dominates the first 2 minutes is a bit much

Iera is awesome because its what Untilted is all about. Its the core track if you ask me. I'll break it down for you as to why I enjoy it.

Quick, intricate clicky tappy sounds like most of the album is all about. The Snare with insane reverb that hits from time to time is awesome too. Then you have the chords that start out really weird, slowly drop down into the correct bass melody. As soon as it hits the base melody for the track (0:43), it all falls into a really tight groove with that snare leading every couple of measures.

The way the sinister creepy bass/pads just slide around weirdly, and its perfectly synced up with the clicky tappy stuff. Eventually it slowly falls apart into a very strange disjointed beat pattern with sparse pads and creepiness goin on. Think parhelic triangle or something.

The best ae tracks are like puzzles in the sense that you won't get everything right away. Iera sounds out of sync but if you bob your head or tap your finger or whatever and maintain the beat it is actually perfectly timed (as with most autechre)

Do you like LCC? If so I don't understand how you don't like Iera as the flow and concepts are quite similar.

I think the key is that the track sort of rides on that snare I keep mentioning, you probably know the one with lots of reverb that's like PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff(sp) every now and then. (first major appearance about 0:43)

If you really don't get it, give it a few thorough listens. I mean THOROUGH, like sit and close your eyes and pay particular attention to everything that's going on until you know what is going to happen in the track on all the layers.

The acid line in Iera does it for me. Sounds so squelchy and nice.
