Recommended Posts

what is your fav. autechre track?

p.s. i share an office with a dude and a chick and the dude sent me this link via instant messenger that he didnt want the chick to see, and i wrote something back politely, to which he replied "lol"

which of course, i would have heard him had he actually been laughing out loud.

the internets are everywhere now.

2nd peel sessions... that uplifting track like 99 cycles or ## something.. i think its the second track.

otherwise how can you go wrong with the first 2 cuts off'a cichlisuite? that digifunk groove on track 2 is a good hard-working drum beat that loves its country

i think i would have to divide my picks into categories.

best 'nu-style ae' track -- i think i agree, gantz_graf has all the components of nu-autechre done really well, the precision grains bouncing in tight unbelievable syncopations and beat subdivisions, the process structure which retains a tappable beat, the subdued and complex synth chords burbling in the periphery, with a melancholy feel, total headfux0r music.

best 'classic ae' track -- maybe bike, with its simple but memorable synth line and chilled out dancey beats like spacetime continuum ... either that or one of the ones on tri repetae i dunno the name of ... it has really low sweeping bassy synth pads that kind of swell in and out, and a constant eighth-note hi-hat rhythm, crunchy noiseburst drums ... shit that probably describes them all ... i'll try to find out later.

best 'ambient' ae track -- definitely vi scose poise. i think that's a beautiful track that falls in a category of its own since it is pretty much beatless and freeform, more about the texture and chords than the rhythms or interplay of different melodic instruments.
