Autechre Another Old Tune?

I posted this in the Autechre forums re: a track that was played on their awesome 12h webcast.

 

I apologise that I haven't got the time/tools to extract a snippet, but it is worth downloading the webcast anyway.

 

Well what do you think?

 

Although I think the question is pointless really as no one has heard those early tracks, am i right?

I would be happy to take a listen but I don't see any link to the webcast itself in that thread...

Are you refering to the music after Autechre's UVIOL and before Ween's BUCKINGHAM GREEN?

That part actually sounds like a primitive electronic take on a classical piece, don't know the name or composer of it though. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those "electronic pioneer recreates classical", Delia Derbyshire type deals.

 

Then again I'm probably very, very wrong.

Here's the entire bit preceding Buckingham Green (14 minutes, 10 MB). I was talking specifically about the part from 3:30 to about 7:50, which reminds me of a classical melody. None of this sounds like BOC to me though.

Yeah that bit, which sounds to me like horses dancing to a xylophone. I felt like it would have been something that they would have produced in their very early tape loop, messing with instrument days. Though i guess everything they have put out from catalog3 and up were all synth/studio stuff, so your right, it is probably some radiophonic/60's experimental stuff. Though no one has id'd it yet :(

All in all we know fuck all about whatever they were doing in their early days, so I'm certainly not ruling anything out. Someone is bound to come along and point out how wrong I am anyway. Just saying that it didn't really remind me of BOC. I quite enjoyed this bit of the set, although my favourite part starts about 9 hours in if I remember correctly. I really need to listen to the whole thing again soon.

I can still download it. Maybe you've got some overzealous pop-up blocking going on or something like that? Have you tried all the mirrors?

I dont know how correctly this has been broken down but it suggests that there are 4 tracks

 

track 1 is 1:08

track 2 is 1:49

track 3 is 5:59 - actually 5:55 when you take off the silence

track 4 is 6:14

 

the only matching track lengths from the BOC old releases are

Drone2 (5:55) and Helter Skelter (6:13)

I'm just using stock firefox 2. I don't get to any sort of mirrors list. there's just the "Download" button and I can't get any further than that.

It sounds VERY NFBoC. So it would then make sense to sound like what BoC would possibly sound like in the old days. But who knows. Perhaps in due time they will speak up about this. For now it's only possible to speculate.
