New soundtrack...

Can sort of see what you're getting at with Lazybeams (if my memory of an earlier post from fox or someone equally knowledgeable serves me that Peel Session originates from 1999 though - sorry, hope that doesn't read like I'm trying to be a smartarse). And I now definitely love this album.

Incidentally, my CD arrived from Japan today, ordered on Friday. No hanging around there.

Hmmmm, are you sure it was '99? - only a year after the session where they played 'Eph' and 'Bo Bootch'? The styles are quite different between the 2 sessions. Seemingly more than a year or so apart, to me. But then I guess that's Plaid for ya! hehehe. Unpredictable and so many different tunes!

Im not sure why I thought it was '02, but that seems to be what's written on the MP3's I have.

My bad, apparently it was '98 according to this. Also, can't see any credits for Benet Walsh anywhere on the CD.

Listening again to the session it sounds more like post Double Figure, than pre Restproof era to me.

I think someone on here mentioned that they had recorded the Peel Session and dated the tape. That was posted not long after the Plaid subforum appeared. Might have been fox as he's pretty clued up, but I can't quite remember.

Actually I think it was fumi's post here where I first got an idea of the TX date, and it could have been 1999 after all (I've been confusing my dates, it happens at my age).

Nevertheless, Orchard does remind me of Lazybeams a lot. I prefer Orchard, though, but Lazybeams is very catchy! But overall I thought that Peel session was pretty weak tbh - compared to other stuff they've done.

did anyone order through beatink directly? i ordered it on dec. 20th, and haven't received it, and now i look on the site and it says its "available for japan only"... i hope i didn't make a mistake.

I've a feeling the label themselves might not sell it to anyone outside of Japan (I tried to order Geogaddi from them but was declined because I'm in the UK, although that is quite an old release now). It seems much easier these days to order newer releases without any trouble from HMV Japan or Amazon Japan. Beatink didn't take my money and emailed me back, so if you do have any problems I'd try the other two, personally I've never had any difficulty with either of them. Whichever, hope you don't have to wait too much longer for the Plaid CD.

The Peel session was definitely 1999. Here's how I remember - I was on a training course for a few days that August so I ended up ringing my brother and asking him to tape it for me. I still remember listening to the session in my hotel room and hoping that it was being taped. I also remember it as 1999 because on this same training course, we all got derailed one afternoon and the instructor ended up talking about the upcoming total solar eclipse (which was visible across most of Europe that summer).

I also recall that I had the cassette marked with a taped note but I cannot check this now because I live abroad now.

Thanks fumi, and it was nice to finally get the TX date (ashamed to say I wasn't into Plaid in those days). I wasn't doubting your info by the way, just me confusing the dates I'd read.

thanks, i didn't even know hmv existed until a few posts ago by pusillanimousrex =P i ordered through them though, so it shoudl be good. just hopefully i wont get a 2nd shipment from beatink later on (or even before hmv =X).

think it has anything to do with the fact that it's their second consecutive japanese-market soundtrack, while the release of their next album proper seems to be pushed back to infinity?

I still listen to this album occasionally. great stuff.
