funny how he pumps his fist a couple of times at the start of the jungle track and just looks straight down.

"oh cripes, me hip"

Yeah, he kind of got all self-conscious a moment into that. Seemed out of character for Aphex! :)

Good vid, even if the editing was needlessly disorientating.

LOL - I bet he does all that hand movement stuff at home when he's by himself making tracks.

No, people like to do that stuff in the comfort of their own home, so they can't be judged... but in reality, something really is wrong with them. THEY ARE FUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my God, surely not someone getting into the music they're playing....!

Any track IDs here?

And yes, that editing is fucking awful. I could do a better job, and I've never edited before

I don't. If I did, I'd probably get self-conscious about it just like Aphex and then get my head down as if nothing ever happened a split second later, just like Aphex.

lol

mrcopyandpaste made it

would have been even funnier if there was the "oh cripes, me hip" looks straight down part but still very cool though

*high five*

That's ace but I would agree that the comedy element is missing with the self-conscious "shit, what am I doing" head straight down afterwards bit! Good though. :whistling:

i don't think its a self concious thing. the bam-bam-bam bit was over .. whats he supposed to do? Keep banging the air when the music does't call for it. He's also mixing so gets back to it after a burst of energy. Squarepusher does similar at Coachella. Its fucking NORMAL not some shy affectation. Jesus....does it have to be explained?

Fucking hell, who rattled your cage?! And no, it didn't have to be explained, nobody asked for an explanation. As I said it just seemed out of character for Aphex. I went to his first gig and loads ever since, at his first gig he was behind a mesh "cage" similar to the mesh screen at the recent Bowgie gig. He's normally quite a motionless person on stage. Here he was clearly a lot more animated and when he did that bam-bam-bam thing there was a glimmer of self-consciousness for a moment which I thought was quite funny. Just chill out, it's no big deal.

In Dublin circa 2001 - the famous cylob-as-a-banana gig - he was extremely animated with lots of air punching. I just don't see any self-conciouness in the guy at all. sure, he's not particularily crowd-responsive but i certainly don't think he was thinking "oops, too much banging there, best keep me head down.". Its not a cage rattling thing, just pointing out the obvious.

I reckon Squarepusher at Coechela's the best electronic music air banger. Someone shoudl gif that!

Who cares? I don't see why you're getting all defensive of him. It was a miniscule observation. I couldn't give a fuck if he went all Guru Josh in front of the crowd (actually, that would be quite amusing). Nowt wrong with a bit of air banging!

In The Hague December 2007 he did a few thumbs up (some slightly more reserved than the other) and pointed his hands like pistols to the people when an awesome Drum 'n Bass part came up.

Although I'm actually saying this to take the piss, it is true.
