Chris Moss Acid
there is double the memory in the MkII and ALL of the sounds from all the sound cards for the first version of the R8 are included in the R8MkII. p.s. - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Roland-R-8-data-rom-...1QQcmdZViewItem Edited May 19, 2008 by chris moss acid Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/34145-crapper-roland-drum-machines/page/2/#findComment-731747 Share on other sites
kokoon
yeah, the cards cost a fortune. i have a mk1 and the 808 card. it's a nice machine, especially the 8 separate outs. but i always found the sequencer dificult to work with. it's been some time since i've used its sequencer, but IIRC it doesn't have a real time step editing mode (i mean, while playing the pattern) also, i think you can't change patterns in some mode... it's got a few quirks, that's for sure. i still like it though, the separate outs alone make it a valuable studio machine. I don't know about the 606 (except that it has no midi) but i picked up a 707 yesterday and i'm in love with it:) I can slave Buzz to it, and it also has SYNC out, yay! I also love the way you can program a pattern while it's playing (I'm used to doing everything with mouse/keys). Plus, they're not that expensive:) I'm seeing 606es go for E400 now, 707s are not half that. I wouldn't send it to Roland, i've got a hunch they charge fortunes. I'd suggest finding a hobbyist thru the internetz. Or you can buy a new one, i paid E190. Which might still be too much market-wise, especially since the battery lid is gone, but i just needed it badly:) I'm producing shit now, something i haven't done since ages Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide kanarie's signature Hide all signatures http://soundcloud.com/kanarie-1 Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/34145-crapper-roland-drum-machines/page/2/#findComment-763800 Share on other sites

SCONES TO DIE FOR
I'll vouch for the TR-707. I got mine for $35 from some one on a hip hop message board. I use the individual outs to trigger an analog drum brain sometimes (Pearl DRX1), and a TR-606 syncs to it nicely, and also midi devices sync well too. The timing is not perfect as a master clock, but that doesn't bug me. Great sounding through a distortion pedal too. Chris Moss Acid
my 707 has been through hell and back, but still plays out perfectly (minus the high tom ><). looks lush with a propper clean once a month. i used to trigger drum brains too with the I.O which is nice.. buti had to give the analord guy his machines back :( the 1 bad thing about the 707 is the midi slave and sync problem. im sure if you wanna know more i've litrually created hundrads of threads about the tr-707 in my time. with stuff liek hwo to tape dump and load patterns via tape and how to get the original 707 demo up which is awesome! That's good because i still have that £1 you donated to me in Utrecht:) I'm not going to spray anything just blindly into the machine, i'd never forgive myself if i ruined it. Maybe some contact fluid on the pot surfaces when they're opened up, so i can see what i'm doing. chris moss acid said: uh i ment to say analouge guy. he lent me some analog drum brains about a year ago. lol chris moss acid said: the guy lent me these Pearl Sycussion ULT Sound - ds4 pro muzer Klone Dual Pecussion Synthesiser they look look nice and old enough:) except that klone thingy. chris moss acid said: i didnt really use them in any recordings that much.. and the one ep i used them on is a noisy acid one.. which you can hear -> HERE which was already sitting on my desktop:) really like it, although tracks 1, 3 & 4 sound more like 96kbps mp3 than 256... chris moss acid said: and some less then good acid try outs that SY1 Klone DPS track sounds better than less than good to me!:) Well since we're posting music now, here's something i did the day after i purchased the 707, immediately after finally managing to sync Buzz (for effects and additional drums) with the TB/TR hardware. it's nothing good at all btw, just a small bit of twiddling, almost no programming. This probably belongs in that thread about real shitty music made with the coolest gear. But the fact that it's synced properly makes it so special to me:) btw the 909 that kicks in around 1:20 (and misses the first beat) is just Buzz, not a TR.
