Maybe a stupid question, what is the sample rate of hardware synths?

I am an awful awful cunt, who gets really annoyed when people who suddenly discover they are arguing an inane and/or incorrect point, resort to saying "well, what you're saying is right in one sense" when really what they should be saying is "you're right".

actually both cos they're mutually linked, but frequency-based was more colorful to use there. yeah i'm quite concerned about colorfulness in sampling rate threads.
