I never really understood why it got such bad reviews when it came out.  i was blown away..  sequenced prepared piano?  thats brilliant.

It seems like these opinions hinge so much on when you got into Dickie... I can't imagine anybody who came in at I CARE saying would say that DRUKQS-- or even RDJ album-- are superior.

imo, the pre-computer stuff has aged a lot better. In fact, the unrelenting freshness of ICBYD circa 2008 has played no small part in convincing me to ditch sequencing via software altogether..

Sadly I agree as well. Drukqs as an album i think has lessened over time. Sometimes it just sounds so fucking digital it's hard not to notice. Certain tracks on it are some if his most brilliant though, no denying it.

I always thought of Drukqs as being a kind of Squarepusher's Ultravisitor. Overly long, pretentious, diverse, but sometimes absolutely brilliant.

You could dislike an album, but like songs on it
