squarepusher MIDI Pickups

I got a buddy who is gonna play a huge show in about 2 months and needs to get a midi pickup for his bass or guitar.

Any recommendations?

Anyone know which one Squarepusher uses?

Any warrant to the claim that they are severely delayed?

I would love to get one, but I've heard several times that the pickup cannot identify the low frequencies of an electric bass without latency, which is a bummer since that is the only issue keeping me from getting one.

i believe squarepusher uses one of these:

not sure about what midi pickup he uses (if any) though. but the micro synth is awesome!

i tried to use a midi pickup system once and it sucked... about 50% of notes were false triggers / wrong octave / no response. it was probably not properly calibrated though. music stores usually don't have them for a reason: they don't work as fine as they should (specially on bass) so nobody buys them. else, everyone and their mom would want to have one innit?

Don't think Squarepusher uses a Micro Synth, it's custom foot pedals hooked up to Reaktor.... would be my guess. I doubt he even uses MIDI pickups live

The Terratec Axxon system is supposed to be pretty good. I think you've got to get your guitar and the pickup set up pretty much spot on - and play really carefully.

I'd love a decent solution, and this one certainly looks like the best as far as I can see.
