Hmm, now that I'm at a set of decent speakers I'm giving the track a listen... yeah there's really nothing TTA sounding about this at all. Like, there's literally nothing that ties this sound to anything else they've done previously, it's a different artist altogether. Wow. I don't think I've ever heard such a drastic shift in sound in one artist from one release to another (judging from this song at least). I've liked all the vocals they've used in previous releases, but I don't like the style of this singer at all. I never expected them to start making generic synth pop. Damn. Usually when artists I like go in a new direction I can appreciate it, but I don't hear anything good about this.

totally agree.

True, this one song hints at a major shift. The days of micro-editing are through, but I'd like to hear the whole album first before I make a judgment. To be honest, I would like to see them try their hands at a pop record. I bet it will be really good.

Map of what is Effortless was almost a pop record, but without ridiculously catchy choruses.

totally disagree. the most pop thing about that record is the fact that they used vocals.

i'm hoping this is a prank on their part, because i can't see how you can go from glitchy breaks to... synth pop. it's a step backwards, definitely. like BT's evolution in reverse.

While the hooks are not beat-you-over-the-head mainstream pop fare, they're still present, and most of the songs with vocals do adhere to the verse/chorus/verse/chorus format. Pop's a very broad genre, and I'd consider most of the vocal tracks on MOWIE to be right on the outskirts of it. "Poppy's" definitely not a term I'd use to describe it, but there are things that are "pop" about it.

I gotta say, I liked their first album and a couple tracks from their second.

This song isn't that great

they've gone downhill since their first album. why the fuck do all producers need to slap some shit singing on their tracks. this was absolutely horrible.

agreed. just saw them perform ALL NEW TRACKS live a couple weeks ago. was very disappointed. stop fucking singing.

oh, what was with the nov. 3rd release date then?

look at the text in the picture on the top there they explain the reason for the delay

i have read it. one song doesn't necessarily damn the whole album, right? i was wondering if anyone else had heard more of the album. obviously no one has because it comes out in january...

but i totally missed that part because i didn't read the funky image that o00o posted.

in conclusion,

well, i did just see them do a live set of all new material and it was suck. so if those were tracks from the new record...

listening to it now and really it's not that bad, actually rather good and still Telefon Tel Aviv in some way...I think "Helen of Troy" is probably the worst song on the album and wasn't the best choice to feature as the premiere song. regardless, I'm digging it even if it's not as good as the last stuff.
