Guest Z_B_Z
seeing as how coil has been a subject as of late, i thought id start a thread about peter christophersons earlier group. personally, im a fan, although i can definitely see how they could be easily hated. i love their new album, 'part two: the endless not'. i also read a pretty nifty (and exhaustive) bio called 'wreckers of civilization' that id urge anyone interested in tg to check out. drew daniels (of matmos) just authored a book in the 33 1/3 series on '20 jazz funk greats'. that i didnt find so nifty, but i appreciated his efforts... vintage tg new tg. note jhonn balance spazzing in the front row. and genesis p-orridge has looked.... better. OneToThirtySix
I was trying to recall why I had looked this band up recently, so I looked them up again, and remembered. I was looking at serial killer profiles . . . and now I can't remember which one it was . . . I remember it was a couple, a man and a woman, and the man sort of indoctrinated her, brainwashed her in a way, and convinced her to go with him, cut and dye her hair, etc. Anyway, he got her to start listening to TG. Guest Z_B_Z
well, that would make sense... i can see how very disturbed people would be drawn to tg. the lyrics to 'slug bait', for example, are *extremely* graphic and disturbing. veeerrryy unsettling if you have the stomach to follow along> » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « SLUG BAIT:Slug bait Can't wait Slug slug bait Can't can't wait I crawl up the grass to your window And then open up your room very slow. OneToThirtySix
I read up to the "wife as a witness" part. Listening isn't so bad, I have that syndrome where I can't understand lyrics unless I read them, but wow. I guess if you could get used to singing along, you could do any sort of sociopathic homocidal activity befitting one with such derangement. beneboi
wow, i really wanted to enjoy all of this. i cant count the times ive seen coil and throbbing gristle mentioned here. i watched all of the videos posted and started some torrents for the albums but it just seems really silly and poorly executed. i guess ill check back in after ive listened to the albums. god i fucking hate not being able to enjoy shit simply because im past the point where it was cutting edge and cool and now ive heard so many bands (i assume) that have taken the same idea and gone further with it. YEK
i have jazz funk hits and rafters. both on record given to me from a guy i worked with a long time ago, he gave me some cure and some industrial stuff as well anyways, i listened to jazz funk or whatever and i expected something entirely different obviously, because of the cover art.... i kinda liked it but not so much the lyrics,,, i listened to rafters and it did my head in, more intense then jazz funk if i remember i'm going to listen to these soon, tonight, and come back to this thread, see what i think about thi type of stuff years later and such Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/38548-throbbing-gristle/#findComment-843313 Share on other sites
J3FF3R00
My buddy has an extra ticket so I'm going to see them for free tonight at some Masonic Temple in Brooklyn. I'm definitely more into Psychic TV and Pigface but I'm pretty excited to check them out. Every now and then I'll see Genesis on the subway or at a bar or something (he lives in Brooklyn). For the record, "Hamburger Lady" is the only song that has made me want to vomit, sober.
