To offer a foretaste of the 10th anniversary edition of the Festival forthcoming in January 2009, club transmediale proudly presents what after a break of many years is to be the first and, moreover, the only concert given in Germany by the pioneer of Electronica, Squarepusher, who will present his new masterpiece Just A Souvenir on 26th November 2008 in the Volksbühne theatre Berlin. Accompanied by a drummer and an elaborate video show, Tom Jenkinson aka Squarepusher will transform the theatre's main stage into a seething dance-floor, with a spectacular concert concept.

On hand to attune us to the sublime delights the evening holds in store will be Norwegian Noise-Rockers and Berliners-by-choice MoHa! who released their explosive 3rd album, One-way Ticket to Candyland in September on Rune Grammofon. Anders Hana on guitar and keyboards and Morten S. Olson on drums unite carefree nonchalance with mathematical precision, thereby sparking a maelstrom of sharp-edged sound splinters, weighty guitar riffs, shivering noise and high-velocity beats.

Support: MoHa! (Rune Grammofon) + DJ

cant believe no1s mentioned the drummers name.. DENNIS CHAMBERS

so Dennis Chambers supports Pusher on that Berlin gig.

internetz wins.

Im sorry here's a misunderstanding.

There is no sign or whatever, that dennis chambers is supporting Squarepusher.

But i would like to see chambers doing a solo over tensor in green.

Gunther Baby Sommer, i would love to see him doing Orient Orange as well.

wasn't serious.

though i'm sure it will be a decent drummer. dunno, there are LOADS of really great studio/live/jazz drummer professionals who just don't play in flashy bands so we haven't heard of them.

On the Björk gig i saw in summer, she had a drummer there who was kind of buried in the mix but you could see he was playing very sophisticated...

me i'd like this guy:

the gig is seated by the way, just bought my ticket :]

No doubt that guy is bad ass but Tom seems to have dropped any form of quantized breaks at all. He's in love with that "live" feel. Frankly, I find Tom's drumming annoying and he never changes the timbre of his kit. Throw down a new snare, baffle your kick more, you got the money, do something!!!!

i agree, his kit sounds shite imo

OH MY GOD. If I had two words to describe this man it would be "pure music". More, please.

Anywho, since this is turning into the 'awesome drummers thread' I give you this:

Squarepusher with live drummer huh. I mean, considering his history, that's almost like selling out, isn't it?

Preview jam video linkage: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/video/2008...er-session-live

"In a new track written exclusively for Guardian.co.uk/music, Squarepusher explores the boundaries of drums and bass with Alex Thomas ahead of their forthcoming tour"

A google of the drummer shows he was with Badly Drawn Boy (I'm not familar with them) and has played some trash metal stuff too.... So given the new albums sound... I can see where he'll fit into a live gig.

I just hope Squarepusher keeps some of the acid techno of bangface for the new tour as well as the jazzy and trashy stuff.
