Squarepusher has released some mind-blowingly great stuff.

But I hate how "knowingly" rubbish JAS sounds. It's like he's saying, "I'm such a legend that I can put out utterly lazy wank, and it's ironic; it's valid, because I'm Squarepusher." I can just imagining him sitting there with his muso friends, laughing about how rubbish JAS is. Har har. Am I the only one getting bored of electronic music 'superstars' putting out unfunny, completely unambitious made-pissed-in-1/2 an hour tracks seemingly for a laugh? Just give up putting out music if you're so cynical about it...

Its probably my favorite Squarepusher album and gets better the more I listen to it. Its valid becuse its his album not yours Lianne.

musically i think its outstanding, but its not very accessable just listening wise unless your really into jazz rock fusion type stuff

i'm not into jazz rock fusion type stuff but i love this album. delta v, planet gear, tensor in green, glass road are all absolute awesome. plus, star time 2 and coathanger are awesome openers :)

i'm into jazz rock fusion and i hate this album. if this is his idea of an ultimate concert, i think ticket sales would be similar to when STYX put on that mr. roboto tour (and that was actually good).

I'm surprised people don't think he's taking the piss. I mean, I can't be sure he is, and there are moments of goodness here and there, but the tacky sounds and production on a lot of the tracks (including the good ones, like the first, with those awful "piano" sounds and that bizarre videogamey sounding lead), the utterly ridiculous lyrics and completely overblown vocoder on two tracks, the plinky-ponkey stupid acoustic+fx one minute filler tracks, and the fact he uses the same dreadful sounding guitar-ish sound on a good few of the tracks, all makes me think he's less than serious.

I mean put any of these tracks on after a scary banger off Ultravisitor or Go Plastic (or even Music Is a Rotted One Note.) They'll pale in comparison in many ways, but most objectively, in terms of production... (I especially hate the drum sounds on this one, it's like he can't record drums properly....)

No, I was actually getting a bit sick of that amen break myself. I just think the production is tacky and cheesy, some of the melodies are irritatingly bombastic and overblown, and the lyrical content stupid and sarcastic, which leads me to believe it's all a big joke.

if anything i think it's meant to be 'fun' rather than a piss take. he probably genuinely enjoys cheesy music (and is influenced by it). as people do.

the crowd noise on ultravisitor makes me wonder though. that was taking the piss even if it wasn't intentional.
