Quantum of Solace

Anybody caught the James Bond flick yet?

I saw it yesterday afternoon and I have to say it was a very disappointing experience. After the reboot of the series that worked well IMO, Quantum of Solace takes Bond into pretty bland territory. He's been turned into just another cold, heartless assassin, and the small attempts that are made to show otherwise fail miserably.

The action scenes are quite entertaining, but it all smells of seen-it-before. The editing tries desperately to reproduce the adrenaline of the Bourne films, even utilising the skills of one of that series' co-editor's, but it fails, and all of the frantic jump cutting that worked well in Bourne doesn't quite work here.

The story is all over the place and for all the talk of the evil Quantum organisation, we're really no further forward at the end of the film than we were at the beginning. Main villian is a fail as well.

I'm glad they stepped away from the camp of Die Another Day, Casino Royale was the kick in the ass that the Bond films needed. Quantum of Solace throws away much of the good work achieved there, making this film just another tired looking action movie.

No, the villian in QOS is some wet French guy who couldn't be more unthreatening if he tried. The final showdown between him and Bond is one lead balloon of a scene.

Casino Royale was a fairly decent attempt to bring Bond into the new millenium, even if it was off of the reflected glory of the Bourne films. With QOS though, it's starting to look as if the wheels might be coming off already.

haven't seen it yet, but after casino royale i was expecting a lot. like you said, it was the kick in the ass that the series needed. too bad the new one sucks again. (still hopeful though)

yeah the trailer doesn't fill me with hope for his one. they really trailing the bourne films badly and its embarrassing. rogue agent anyone?

the thing about the trailer that makes me fear most for this film is the bond line in the bar. something like "how long have i got? 30seconds. well that doesn't give us much time" is that suppose to be one of bonds quips? usually the guy is sharp and funny but that line is simply a fact. why is it in the trailer?

i'll see this film anyway as I thought the last one was good although the bond girl was weak in casino royale.

couldn't agree more, i could never understand what type of people james bond appealed to. The action in it isnt enough to appeal to hardcore action fans, the sex and nudity is below Sex in the City level risque, James Bond movies can't even sexually excite a 50+ housewife, and the whole secret agent stylization was extremely cliche even when the 1st James bond came out.

daniel craigh makes quite a terrible james bond, he just looks like hes pissing about. having someone like christian bale as james bond would have been much better for the franchise, but lets just let it die now please.

The whole James Bond appeal was based on stereotypes and racial profiles, in todays political corrected world there's no place for that type of things.

i was under no illusion that they would be anything else.

daniel craig is a dour, po faced cock and james bond has been superceded by many new and interesting peeps.

not only that but bbc breakfast news will manage to tie in every fucking major news story with the new bond film for the next 6 months and it makes me want to kill.
