Hello Everything = Squarepusher's 'best of' ?

ok ok ok, i apologise in advance cos i know this is a real lame fanboy-ish topic.. BUT..

is Hello Everything an attempt at a best of? obviously not a compilation of previously made/released tunes, but a collection of tunes covering all his styles.

the album seems to (almost forcefully?) try and cover everything he's done,

Jazz - Cronecker King, Theme From Sprite

Drum'n'Bass - Planetarium, Rotate Electrolyte

Ambient - Vacuum Garden, Orient Orange

then you have the epic Plotinus which while it is it's own track and all, is somewhat similar to the epic Tetra-Sync. and Welcome To Europe is also in a similar style to earlier 'pusher tracks.

seems the only squarepusher style not really evident on this album was his 2001-2002 electronic music stuff.

right? wrong? agree? disagree?

I can see where you're coming from. I've always thought he threw a lot of different ideas around on that album.

thats pretty much what i said in the hello everything thead (i think)

not so much a "best of", more an "introduction to" squarepusher through the ages

as it were

Hello Everything is Tom's last great album (IMO) - it seems every other album of his is good...

Do You Know Squarepusher - Very Good

Ultravisitor - zzzz...

Hello Everything - Fantastic!

Just a Souvenir - :\

don't know if it's a best of really... i guess you could say the same about most of his previous works, even... dunno... selection sixteen, or ultravisitor

but, in my opinion, it is his best album yet

i like the sound of it, dark, not too crispy, kind of high on the medium range. and the volume is kind of low too, it demands you to turn it up right. it's beautifully crafted (lol)

i think in hello everything his bass playing skills are more accentuated than in other albums, including just a souvenir

blah blah blah blah

That's saying a lot, man. I don't like JAS that much either, but he'll have another album a year or two from now and it could be great. It's not like he's lost whatever it is he has. A lot of the unreleased stuff you can hear in his last Bangface set is sick. We'll hear some wilder stuff in the future and I'm pretty sure of that. If not, I'll fuckin' kill him.

Not really as Squarepusher has not done any ambient stuff before Hello Everything.

Stuff like Mutilation Colony, The 'Eye, Hardcore Obelisk, (bonus track on my red hot car) is all fairly ambient stuff! I guess 'best of' isn't best way to put it, but definitely something along the lines of Squarepusher going through all his styles.. or something.

But Ultravisitor good 2 sleeping : bwouaaaah ah ah ah ah!!!

hello everything seems to take a sudden turn beginning on the fourth track. the first three all seem to fit very well. i suppose this is because track 3 is very organic, and track 4 is not at all. I don't think that the album is like a greatest hits, but this change in the feel of the album makes the entire thing feel as if it is separated into two parts.

I'M SORRY FOR BEING ME I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I AM

just wanted to comment that i think the drums on this album are what ruin it. hello meow could have been much better without that tinny as fuck amen break. i put this album on to listen and see if my opinion had changed. the melodies are great at times.

for instance, hello meow. the first minute or so i was thinking, "wow, this a GREAT melody - this is pretty good - actually"

then the beat came in and i was like "oh yeah. that's why i hate this album."

still a few good spots on it but mostly shit imo

Circlewave 2 and Bubble Life don't seem to get too much attention but I absolutely love those tracks, better than the drum/more traditional Sqp tracks on the album

Hello Everything is garbage. Not a single track on it is representative of any BEST track.

Planetarium - best track since Tundra4
