If Hudson Mohawke is a reference to the movie Hudson Hawk then I'm a fan!

I didn't have much opinion on the track on Warp I played. I'll probably end up listening through the EP on Bleep when it comes out.

that track sounds way too much like the smashed to hell "LOOK I DONT QUANITIZE BRO (but i do i lie)" flying lotus sound, ive heard much better hudson mohawke tracks before

i saw him a month and a half ago after rustie.

i was told he made stuff like flying lotus.....

so, i thought: "cool!"

but NO, he pulled out some shit r'n'b/cheesier flying lotus.

we waited it out for a good 20-25 minutes then left because it hurt.

i hate r'n'b

i'll give him some credit, it was quite well produced.....but it WAS r'n'b, it even had the gay vocals.

maybe (hopefully) it was a one off gig.

You guys should really check his past ep, that track on bleep "Polkadot Blues" was already on one of his releases :

"Hudson's heeters vol 1" which is a fairly good album/ep with 14 short intrumental tracks. If you did check OOooops, also avaible on bleep, it's also a good release, but don't listen to the vocal tracks, it's really rnb ish and the guys who rap aren't good either. But the intrumental are good.

I really hope his first ep and then album is gonna be good, but I agree that this glitchy, off beat etc trend is really gettign a bit too big and frankly a bit tasteless. I do like Rustie's tracks, not all of them thought. Gaslamp killer is really really good though, and I can't wiat to have a listen to a proper release of his ( not a mix or something)

But the thing is, I think that this trend makes me think of the good old days of prefuse73, I've been a bit disapointed on the experementations he's been doing latetly...

Well anyways, I didn't really manage to nail what I wanted to say, I'll try again in another message...

i really really like this stuff

i think the whole loose drum thing is great

it makes a really quick cutoff to the accessibility thing

it either resonates with you or it doesn't

rustie makes some pretty fucking awesome synth sounds and grain cloudy things too

his remix are fucking stellar to (at least the jamie lidell, jahcoozi and zomby ones i've heard)

it's cerebral club shits

i think zomby and joker are doing good things with this kinda style too (although kind of polar opposites)

hudmo is more some blunts on the couch thing for me (although if i were to dj I'd spoin the living shit out of that oops vinyl)

that yonard track fucking kills...it alone makes me hope there's a vinyl of this somewhere

i reallllly like jay-prada, mwelesee and DecLord stuff too on this kinda tip

it's like: I don't wana hear j-dilla in the club...but i still wanna come home and listen to donuts with my gf in the afternoon sometimes

actually my only complaint about these cats is both times i've seen hudmo it was a pretty lackluster performance

as in he was boring to watch but i do like hearing the shit loud

same thing for the time i saw rustie too

maybe(I'm hoping) just bad nights

hudsons heeters is pretty awesome for a free e.p. ,if you guys like this stuff at all track it down

oversized pencis breaks is fire

  • 1 month later...

The polyfolk dance ep is coming in a couple of days now... and the samples are up on bleep ( bleep mart beta whatever)

What do you guys think of this ? The polka dot blues tracks was on hudson's heeters already...

Seems like a pretty good ep, love the cover...

But I was expecting a bit more I think... But I've yet to listen to the complete tracks and stuff, so we'll see...

I love the cover too... I ordered the cd on boomkat ( can't order it in bleepmart) and I can't wait to see how the full package is... I still can't believe this hasn"t leak yet though.... ( these days, it's really strange when something that's coming out the 26th of jan isn"t out there at least 2 weeks in advance...)

Any of you managed to get your hands on these ? Or has received the 12 yet ?

well, couldn't resist and bought it on bleep today

(already ordered the cd version)

and I have to say I'm pretty disapointed... I hope the album is take a bit more risk in terms of production.

Still love the cover though...
