Seems like warp don't rate Quaristice that much

Recommended Posts

Well, Quari IMO comes nowhere near Untilted... but the tour was perhaps good enough to let them have an entry?

New Future Image album, Definite Complex, out now!

nah the Quaristicepackage is pretty good actually, it's just you missing out imo.

that wooden 'tock' snare drum is the single most effective sound i've ever heard.

didn't like the release at the beginning but it has grown very well.

what, no pivot?!

Remember all those Quaristice threads on this forum between March and June? Oh god. Remember how similar the content was in them all, hahaha. It was like everyone was riding on the crest of a wave, saying how good it was...for so long there was a sense of people striving towards the same feelings of appreciation... and then that wave crashed. Reality struck. Interest dwained by mid July, people began talking about other things, a soundboard recording of a live set, then boris claimed to have unreleased Tuss tracks, Clarks over-use of digital compression became an issue. Then someone posted a thread entitled "Rob Brown's Wedding Pics".

The dream was over.

Caralaaaaaan......God is in......his holy temple........

Like it more now than i did then. Quite patchy though, and some tracks don't really evolve much. Many tracks i do like though from the whole LP+EP.

Simmm would be in there if they hadn't banjaxed it in the middle.

Ae enthusiasts in general had such a fleeting interest in Quaristice because it lacked the substance and depth of previous albums. Most of the appeal was on the surface. There's not a whole lot of interesting stuff going on here, and it got old fast.

That's a theory.

Personally I lost interest because I stopped doing drugs.

The only artist I've heard of on that list is Gas. Oh Warp, what hast thou dunst.

the cool thing about it is ... you don't have to... it doesn't actually matter

i still rate quaristice in the best 10 albums of 2008

i'm not sure i heard 10 new albums last year

i definitely didn't hear 10 that would make it into a top 10 list had i heard more than 10

the best record to come out this year (by fucking miles) was already 15 odd years old

ah yes, but did this not also happen with untilted and draft 7.30?

i find with later autechre albums i get into them right away, and then after a couple of weeks of hardcore listening, i stop completely, and then after about a year or so i start listening again and find it AWESOME for another couple of weeks.

If you dont like quallballssticke, you got a problem

The genius of autechre is that they are so good at makin music that they make you believe its crap at first hearing, you have to listen to it at least 10 times to really grasp the subtelty of it all ....i mean for fucks sake i though Plyphon sucked !!!!!!!!!!

Whether people like Quaristice or not, it's caused this massive thing where people cry about AE not giving them the album they wanted, as if they're owed it. They've always made the music they wanted to make, some people stopped listening after Tri Repetae when it got too weird or whatever, some people are more into the later stuff. They've always been divisive and it's hardly surprising that people are getting all up in arms about it, but I'd rather they release an album which causes such debate than one not even notable enough to mention.

Personally, I think Quaristice has to be my most listened to AE album. I'm still listening to it and the versions, I fucking love it, which is especially surprising as I didn't take to it at first listen. I don't think it comes close to Draft, but then Draft is head and shoulders above the rest for me.

I listened to Quaristice and Versions again today and yesterday. Not playing them for a few months did them well apparently. I liked the album(s) in the beginning as well, but now after its abscence the stuff's really grown on me. Better speakers probably participated as well... but I used to think there were a few tracks that sounded too much alike, now I think the whole composition makes a lot of sense. It's not Untilted but it's probably really just as good.

I'm the opposite. I was really turned off by Quaristice when I heard it, but after hearing Versions and Quadrange, it all started to come together. The three records, taken as a whole, make for one very good (but long) record.

Only problem is that it took three iterations to get there.

Still, what else of merit has Warp put out this year?

i would be similar

the more i used italics

the more i liked that particular album.
