Guest hahathhat
i just encountered a very definite instance of #2 in the wild: herbie hancock - future shock - rockit (mega mix) i still haven't quite worked out what's going on, this will be vague, hah. they sample bits of other tracks on the album. one bit is the lady saying "future shock!" with 1/1 delay. cadence of the words is important, obviously, you should listen to the song to get a proper picture. in the sampled instance, they drop the tail of the delay, cutting off the final "-ock!". the rhythm is very strong, the way the phrase is said, the timing of the delay, and the ear-grabbing sudden stop of the sample. the drums and other things in the song give it depth and glue. end result is, my mind keeps going "ock! ock! ock! ock!" in time with the beat... Guest hahathhat
Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://www.nevenen.com/audio/futureshockock.mp3 notice the first four times you hear the sample, it doesn't really do the thing i'm talking about. then they drop shit in at 0:19 and it starts to happen... i suspect it's important to hear the first for rep's, kind of get the rhythms in the listener's skull going the right way, ya? There's a sound in Björk's An Echoe A Stain that reminds me of this, but it's more underwater-y somehow. hahathhat said: 1. Going up or down stairs, you think there's another, but there isn't. Blindfold your gf, tie strings to her head connecting her with all loose objects in the house, let her walk the stairs and put stickle brix on the last step, sample the sound recordings you can get out of it. pcock
I would have thought the answer to this is a sneaky bar of 15/16 quite deep within a piece of 4/4 music. , the unexpected stair, that is.
