The perfect drukqs tracklist

Guest mushroom

Recommended Posts

I've been tinkering with this playlist of the electronic music tracks from Drukqs. Try it, I think the flow works quite well:

meltphace 6

Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels mount

bbydhyonchord

afx237 v7

taking Control

Orban eq trx4

omgyjya-Switch7

54 Cymru beats

Vordhosbn

cock Ver10

ziggomatic 17

I'll do a list for the other tracks soon. The variety on each disk is cool, but it would have been better if the electronic music tracks and the Piano tracks were on seperate disks/releases. Though I can be irritatingly perfectionist...

I really don't know what I'd choose. I know Meltphace and Cockver are my two favs. Then Mt. Saint Michel Mix + St. Michaels Mount... And ofcourse Vordhosbn.

1) Meltphace

2) Petiatil Cx Htdui

3) Mt. Saint Michel Mix + St. Michaels Mount

4) Avril 14th

5) Vordhosbn

6) Bbydhyonchord

7) Cockver

I guess this would be it. I'm not one for really long releases(Drukqs being an obvious exception) so I will keep it short and sweet with this.

Clocking in at forty eight minutes and eight seconds:

Afx237 V7

Cock/Ver10

Orban Eq Trx4

Vordhosbn

Meltphace 6

54 Cymru Beats

Gwely Mernans

Omgyjya Switch7

Mt St Michel+St Michaels Mount

Kesson Dalef

Might still re-jig the running order a bit though.

One of the things I enjoy the most from this album are the changes of pace - the contrasts within the songs and in between them.So in my playlist you can see a progression towards the fastest track of the albim and an epilogue, but also moving back and forth from "faster" to "slower" tracks.

I have a soft spot for tracks like kladfvgbung micshk and ruglen holon.

Also, some tracks sound a lot better with headphones, and some others with a hefty soundsystem. gwely mernans or kladfvgbung micshk are absoluetly amazing with headphones. I know this sounds obvious, but sometimes its better to let the music bounce in a room, and some others to pay attention to the "direction of the soundscape." Listening to gwely mernans is like exploring a city in another planet.

I've listened to drukqs so much that I can't help but I associate certain tracks with eachother. Like, Bbydhyonchord with Gwely Mernans, Avril 14th with Cockv10, Gwarek with Mt Saint Michael, Btoum-Roumada with 54 Cymru Beats. I listen to any of those expecting the next track. So my order is how it is originally pretty much, minus a few tracks. Pretty boring. I shouldn't have listened to it so much. I do think the original track order works, I just wanted them all on one disc for convenience. I prefer disc 1 to disc 2.

1 Jynweythek Ylow

2 Vordhosbn

3 54 Cymru Beats

4 Btoum-Roumada

5 Penty Harmomium

6 Meltphace 6

7 Kladfvgbung Micshk

8 Omgyjya-Switch7

9 Prep Gwarlek 3B

10 Gwely Mernans

The album still confuses and confounds the fuck out of my brain. So I still haven't got a clue. And I think thats the way it was intended.

Everytime I play the album it all sounds different to me. Off the hook is Drukqs.

this is by no means my favourite way of listening to drukqs but if i'm in the mood for the fast and the intricate i usually go with this playlist...

just the frenetic, in album order with mangle included to crossover the discs...... plus don't albums feel more complete when there's 10 tracks...?

Vordhosbn

Omgyjya-Switch7

Cock/Ver10

Mt Saint Michel+Saint Michaels Mount

Mangle 11 (Circuit Bent VIP Mix)

54 Cymru Beats

Meltphace 6

Taking Control

Afx237 V.7

Ziggomatic 17

Every track sped up so it's half an hour in length.

...actually I think Drukqs is the second best sequenced Aphex album as is, but RDJ Album wins because it is also well sequenced while being much more accommodating in length.

There is a disturbing lack of Penty-Harmonium (or QKThr) in this thread. Honestly one of the emotional highlights of the album for me.

i think if I was to choose just 10 tracks it'd be

Vordhosbn

Btoum-Roumada

Omgyjya-Switch7

Gwely Mernans

Bbydhyonchord

Cock/Ver10

Avril 14th

Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount

Hy A Scullyas Lyf A Dhagrow

Ziggomatic 17

I love Hy A Scullyas Lyf A Dhagrow, as well as Petiatil Cx Htdui. Hard to choose between the two.

What a shitty list

Meltphace 6 has to be at the start, it's a perfect album opener. Seriously, try listening to it as if it's at the start of the album.

i would hate to take even a single track out of the album! that said, lately i've been muuuuuuuuuuch more into the (prepared) piano pieces than the crazier, more idm stuff. he's got a wonderful ear. it'd be magical to hear him do an album of compositions for the piano.

at the moment kladfvgbung micshk is probably my favorite one.

edit: following that, it's actually pretty nice if you separate out the 'acoustic' and 'digital' tracks into separate discs. unless i'm really in the drukqs mood, that's usually what i do. the moods are so varying; most of the time i'm only down for one or the other.
