Autechre the cool new gear

i have been reading up on the Nord Modular G2, drooling. I want it, but it seems irresponsible to drop that kind of cash. Besides that, what is the cool new jams for making autechre/etc. music? i've had a Nord Modular G1 for years but I've gotten serious gear envy from the G2. what else is out there that is awesome?

If we still have electricity or havent been blown up by some form of bomb im quite interested to see what gear, certainly so called 'un-cool' gear, become wanted and cool in the future. like some of the gear from the 80's that werent that sort after, that have become cool today.

I've seen them a couple times on ebay at that price and once on analoguehaven.com's used gear page. I don't know if the used price on g2 engines increased after clavia announced they weren't making them anymore.
