You noticed the slowness too? I'll look into why that is... if anything, this skin should be FASTER since it uses more CSS than images than the old one...

fixed width layout - what possible reason is there to do this unless you want to more easily catch people breaking signature image rules?

monochromatic scheme - i see what youre trying to do here, and it is slightly neater, but by eliminating colour theres actually less contrast and order to the content. the very least you can do here is make the background a very dark grey.

can i have a go at making a stylesheet now? or are you afraid ill show you up? :P

Actually white text on a dark background is easier on the eyes. I'd love it if there was a skin option for that.

You obviously don't read my posts/replies - this is NOT my theme - this is the default theme that ships with this version of the forum - I'll be working on an 'official' WATMM skin for when the site launches, etc.

Also, if you knew anything about usability, you'd know that liquid-width designs don't typically work well with textual content - readers who have to scan across more than the width of an A4 sheet of paper (what we're used to looking at typically in the real world) get eye fatigue, as well as losing interest and not retaining as much due to their brain having to 'keep up' with the long lines of text. Not everyone has their browser not maximized to their full monitor's width, and setting the forum width to 960px will make it fit nicely on a 1024x768 pixel screen, the typical lowest resolution for computers these days.

Yes, have a go at making a skin for it - you'll want to Google for resources on creating skins for IPB 2.3.6. I would LOVE for you to 'show me up', as it would provide the entire forum with a pleasing skin, and possibly save me some effort and time in the long run!

What screen resolution are you set to? I could make it a percent width, but on higher screens it would be a bit too wide... 960px is best for 1024x768 minimum resolution.
