my favorite Hicks routine is probably one of his most overquoted

"I'm so sick of arming the world, then sending troops over to destroy the fucking arms, you know what I mean? We keep arming these little countries, then we go and blow the shit out of them. We're like the bullies of the world, y'know. We're like Jack Palance in the movie Shane, throwing the pistol at the sheepherder's feet.

"Pick it up."

"I don't wanna pick it up, Mister, you'll shoot me."

"Pick up the gun."

"Mister, I don't want no trouble. I just came downtown here to get some hard rock candy for my kids, some gingham for my wife. I don't even know what gingham is, but she goes through about ten rolls a week of that stuff. I ain't looking for no trouble, Mister."

"Pick up the gun."

(He picks it up. Three shots ring out.)

"You all saw him - he had a gun."

I found it ironic when me and my bro were showing his young girlfriend a classic Bill Hicks stand up on DVD (as she'd never heard of him before) and the same jokes about Bush senior were just as relevant about Bush Junior today.

Iraq? Yes, incredible weapons!

How do you know?

Ermm.....we checked the receipt.

I think I can honestly say that watching Hicks talk about war, drugs and rock n roll back in the day when I was at high school gave an honest voice that cut through all the bullshit regular society's forces down your throat and really changed my outlook on life.

.....didn't rob anybody, didn't harm anybody, didn't loose one fucking job, laughed my ass off and went about my day....

Life is just a ride! :shade:

I understand he's clever. I get all of his jokes. I just don't laugh that much. To me, he's a watered down Carlin. I would rather watch him over a slew of other comedians, but he doesn't make me laugh that much.

Hicks was edgier than Carlin at an early age. Who knows how far he could've gone. But that's a generational thing. Comedians like Carlin certainly made it easier for comedians like Hicks to do their material. I don't think it's really fair to compare them.

The performance was grand...

His mom made the audience laugh(or a flashing sign did)....

The 'real' reason it was cut in the first place was because of his Pro-Lifers joke....

Supposedly a pro-life commercial aired during the break....

overquoted for good reason, it's hysterical and straight to the point pretty much true!

the songs are awesome;

I'm gonna be a karate maaaaan.... whippin' on bad guys, gettin' chicks with the clap of my haaands!
