dont get mgs4 biggest let down in the history of mankind

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

Yeah I reckon. Although I managed to get a back compatible one which is jolly nice, my Ps2 died and I had to be able to get my fix of We Love Katamari so that's why I spent a little extra to get it. However I expect after a while I'll probably use it less and less (Like I did with the PS1 back compatibility on the PS2) so it's not a major drawback in the long term.

Get Little Big Planet too.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Your best bet is to try and source a 60GB PS3 if playing PS2 games are that important to you and you do not have a PS2 already or it's not convenient for you to have it hooked up at the same time as your PS3.

Sony categorically denies doing any sort of software emulation for PS2 games; as they are focusing on PS3 games, and reducing the cost of making the PS3.

I think in the next 3 years, after the PS2 has finally ceased production, THEN Sony may do something about it. Then again, they may never do anything about it, taking a cue from Microsoft and it's XBOX emulation - you notice you don't see many backwards-compatibility updates these days (at least I don't).

I can guarantee this system isn't worth the money. Buyer's remorse at its most profound.

What games did you get for it?

They prob wont release an "update".

Cod4 and Little Big Planet. Resident Evil is on it's way, wipeout HD...

Where's joyrex when you need him? He's sponsored by Sony.

I am not! I just like Sony products... not all of them, but for the most part, they make good stuff.

I'd get a ps3 if you want blu-ray. Otherwise 360 is the best for pure gaming. xboxlive is unrivaled.

I was thinking about getting a ps3 if they drop the price to 300$ for the blu ray however it's not like i'm going to be re-buying my vast dvd collection.

Ask yourself - WHY are you wanting a PS3? Does it have games that interest you? Do you have an interest in Blu-Ray movie watching? Does it offer something the competing consoles don't that appeals to you? Really, ignore the opinions of a few people, and do the research yourself - MGS4 might be one of the best games ever made, but if somebody doesn't like MGS4-style games, no matter how good it is, it's not going to appeal to them.

Joyrex, the games I have are GTA4 (like all GTA games, fun for a while, and then it's repetitive), MGS4 (Hideo Kojima Jumps The Shark), and LittleBigPlanet (worthless hyped game, 2D Garry's Mod without the ability to script).

the only fun I have is hopping on LittleBigPlanet multiplayer for the sake of griefing people. Pretending to be cooperative and then smacking/pulling people to their doom the moment we're near a flaming ember or a bottomless pit.

Other games for the PS3 are better on the PC -- Fallout 3 looks and handles better (although fuck them for putting that Windows Live bullshit in the PC game, I don't need my PC to be an XBoxPleaseFixMe), and Electronic Arts completely fucked up the Team Fortress 2 port from what I heard. Besides, who in their right mind prefers shootan games with a console joystick controller instead of a mouse and keyboard?

PS3 is pretty awesome.

Get LBP, Dead Space, NG:Sigma, & Mirror's Edge.

On PSN get Burnout Paradise, Flow, Pixeljunk Eden, & Everyday Shooter.

Don't get MGS4. It's one of the stupidest movies you'll ever watch.

WAT - I thought you had a PS3, considering your Wipeout love... also, unless the majority of whatever console's exclusive titles (titles you KNOW will remain exclusive to that console) appeal to you, XBOX and PS3 deliver the same experience on almost every cross-platform title. Personally, I like that I don't have to pay for access online like XBOX users do; while their infrastructure may be a bit better, I can say online gaming on PS3 works just fine.

Honestly I'd not spend any money on any consoles at all.

My PS3 is just a backup web browser for, like right this very second, when my actual computer is broken. All it's otherwise done has sat idle computing protein folds for the last 6 months.

The Wii had promise but Nintendo's franchise titles were letdowns (over 10 years since Super Mario 64 and they still haven't come up with an automatic camera that isn't an obnoxious piece of shit that gets you killed). The only thing my Wii does now is store my excess Pokemon that I don't have room for on my Diamond cartridge -- Virtual Console? Ffffff, just use an emulator and download the ROMs, or buy the original cartridges on ebay for typically $1 or $2. The really rare games whose cartridges are expensive as hell? They're not going on the Virtual Console any time soon. Nintendo of America and Europe hate Earthbound and its fans, they've proven time and time again.

Don't even bother with an XBox either. Even if you're lucky enough not to get a red ring o

oh how cute, the PS3's web browser limits text box input to like 1K. gg Sony

As for the XBoxPleaseFixMe, if you're lucky enough not to get a red ring of death and have it sent for repairs every other months (as a former owner of the first-gen PlayStation 2, I can empathize), then what? Rare isn't making any games worth playing, and they haven't since they left Nintendo's side. And then you have generic FPS games and Madden 2000-2999 saturating that console almost as bad as casual games for babies and soccer moms have saturated the Wii.

I haven't played GTA4 (I don't like thuggery), and personally, I liked MGS4 and LBP. Fallout 3 is better on PC, and yes, EA did screw up the whole Orange Box. Besides that though, there are lots of great games on PS3 that you should consider:

Wipeout HD

PixelJunk Eden

PixelJunk Monsters

Super Stardust HD

Blast Factor

Soldner-X

Flock

Battlefield: Bad Company

Resistance 2

Killzone 2

etc...

It really boils down to what appeals to you - you sound more like a PC gamer - I personally cannot stand the amount of fiddling you have to do to play PC games decently these days, in addition to the costs primarily associated with a video card. And personally, I prefer playing shooters with a joystick than a mouse and keyboard. The mouse is a superior pointing device, but using directional keys to manouver is too hard for me.

The browser has continually gotten better; hopefully it will one day rival a proper browser in speed and features.

I would see commercials side-by-side for Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and that Gears of War game, and 5 minutes later have a hard time remembering which game was which. Honestly I don't think anyone is bringing anything fresh or interesting to FPS games besides Valve, who actually take risks in their carefully-executed concepts. And BioShock wasn't fresh or interesting except maybe the artwork and the storyline being fap material for Ayn Rand haters.

Like remember when those two movies, The Mimic and The Relic, both came out at the same time? I couldn't remember which movie was which afterwards.

It's very easy to do (the instructions are in the PS3 manual), and once you do, you can download lots of stuff, including all the free demos, themes and other goodies on the PSN.

Killzone 2 won't reinvent the FPS genre; but visually, and terms of details and realism and good enemy AI, it will be amazing.

Resistance 2 is a great game, both on and offline. I really like Gears of War 2, it looks like a lot of fun to play (horde mode) and visually is amazing.

i'm playing through Bioshock right now; and I LOVE it - very atmospheric.

Right now, the PS3 is the best-ranked Blu-Ray player (due to the upgradeable firmware) in terms of speed in loading movies and price. The fact you get a great game console is an added bonus.
