Guest zaphod
this is nice but he seems to be just be making the same song, over and over, nine or ten times per album. i'd rather just listen to wolfgang voigt, honestly. Guest philia
think i read somewhere that wolfgang voight's a big fan of the field anyway, love the new album... much more than the previous. going to see him live next month Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43032-the-field-yesterday-today/page/2/#findComment-1039236 Share on other sites

Guest zaphod
voigt is just more interesting to me because i like his textures more. but then i don't really think gas is all that either. there's variation on this album, i guess, but i just don't really get the big deal. like i said, it's nice. it's good, i'm listening to it, but it isn't that good. uh oh i'm being negative! quick someone point it out! awepittance
its amazing how much artists like the Field, Gas and burial get hyped up as shit and sure they are good, but 'most amazing album of the year' ? i mean seriously come on guys this stuff is very spoon fed to you, but if its good its good im not denying that. its just there is so much other more obscure stuff coming out nobody pays attention to because pitchfork doesnt jizz all over it sorry to be negative! It seems like you just don't like it much and instead of just accepting "people like different things" are trying to justify it by saying its only getting attention cause pitchfork praised it. Aphex Twin got praised by pitchfork, does that mean Aphex Twin isn't as good as any of us think? Guest beatfanatic
A bit off-topic and not necessarily intended towards a particular person but I always feel that some people on watmm think their music taste is superior because they know a lot about obscure electronic music and usually shit on a bit well known artists even if their output is good. Obscure music doesn't always equal to good music . Guest zaphod
ok, i've listened a few more times now. i really do like this; i think i came off wrong in my previous post. the track built around the lorelei sample is my favorite thing on the album. but we'll see, i'm not putting this down as album of the year. there's a lot of year left. Guest Rent
the instrumental tracks are just spot on...Leave It and Sequencer could be on repeat forever and I'm not sure I'd ever tire of them. maybe not the best of '09, but surely worth many many listens.
