this is nice but he seems to be just be making the same song, over and over, nine or ten times per album. i'd rather just listen to wolfgang voigt, honestly.

dude, false. this is the best album of the year so far ... there's much more variation on this than his previous album (and how is voigt not making the same song over and over?)

voigt is just more interesting to me because i like his textures more. but then i don't really think gas is all that either. there's variation on this album, i guess, but i just don't really get the big deal. like i said, it's nice. it's good, i'm listening to it, but it isn't that good.

uh oh i'm being negative! quick someone point it out!

its amazing how much artists like the Field, Gas and burial get hyped up as shit and sure they are good, but 'most amazing album of the year' ? i mean seriously come on guys this stuff is very spoon fed to you, but if its good its good im not denying that. its just there is so much other more obscure stuff coming out nobody pays attention to because pitchfork doesnt jizz all over it

sorry to be negative!

lol shut up, just because pitchfork jizzed on it doesn't make it not good... get your head out of your ass. Claiming that people only like this album cause they don't know "obscure" music is ridiculous...

no you misunderstood me, a lot of the people here praising this LP do have a vast knowledge of obscure electronic music thats why its strange to me so many people heavily praise the spoon fed stuff but its like a chicken or the egg conundrum, it could be argued that the Field is so good that people feel the need to spoon feed it to other people

So your saying people are enjoying and album and expressing their enjoyment? It seems like you just don't like it much and instead of just accepting "people like different things" are trying to justify it by saying its only getting attention cause pitchfork praised it.

Aphex Twin got praised by pitchfork, does that mean Aphex Twin isn't as good as any of us think?

well, sure, voigt is overall better than willner (but ask me that same question after the field has put out 40 releases). i'll put it another way; listen to track 3 ('leave it') at very high volume, and if you don't love it, okay, maybe we just disagree on this album

right, we actually have pretty similar taste in obscure electronic music; yet this album really is that good

A bit off-topic and not necessarily intended towards a particular person but I always feel that some people on watmm think their music taste is superior because they know a lot about obscure electronic music and usually shit on a bit well known artists even if their output is good. Obscure music doesn't always equal to good music .

ok, i've listened a few more times now. i really do like this; i think i came off wrong in my previous post. the track built around the lorelei sample is my favorite thing on the album. but we'll see, i'm not putting this down as album of the year. there's a lot of year left.

right, it's the best of the year so far, but just because the year hasn't been that impressive yet
