need help brainstorming IDM sounding words/track names

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to create some real IDM sounding track names for a while now, but just can't get anything that sounds IDM enough

I'm using the following tools to varying degrees of success:

http://benjamin.hu/w2namegen.php

http://www.robobunny.com/cgi-bin/dislexicon

http://unique-names.com/word-mixer.php

does anyone have a specific process they go through? Good tracknames are definitely harder to come up with than you think. I've also mainly been looking through dictionaries of foreign languages on wikipedia

seriously pathetic

why? that i'm discussing part of a creative process and am wondering what tools other people use? how is it any different than discussing how to do shit in live or cubase or whatever

i think people are trying to say just call it any old fucking thing, it really isn't important or worth thinking about.

here are some names i came up with just now whilst having a shit:

rubber cap protrusion

photocopying magnesium

eyes in the back of my face

hill-top brick throw

because inspiration should come from within. track titles are part of the inspiration side of art, not the technical side of know-how such as "what are the best eq settings for making sure my kick drum doesn't get lost in mix?" if you're looking for advice on how to come up with random track names that fit some idea of a scene in your mind, your tracks must not mean much to you.

art should never be made by committee. if you want to be inspired by people, form in the flesh relationships with other humans and inspire each other. but consulting a group of anonymous internet users is seriously pathetic. if you don't have the inspiration to have a connection with what you're creating, you probably don't have much inspiration for what you're creating either. sorry to be a prick, but seriously look at what you're doing. "how do i create something that conforms and fits in?" there's nothing particularly punk about that, is there?
