Daft Punk is Scoring "Tron 2"

Upcoming Film Scores is reporting that Daft Punk has signed on to write the original music score for the upcoming "Tron" sequel. Daft Punk's members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have been involved in various films before, but "Tron 2" will be their first complete feature film score.

 

Daft Punk is known for such songs as "Around The World," "Da Funk" and "One More Time." Their songs have also become popular in remixes; "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" was used in "Stronger" by Kanye West and "Technologic" was used in "Touch It" by Busta Rhymes.

 

The original 1982 "Tron" film revolves around a hacker who is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

The 'Irreversible' score that Thomas Bangalter wrote was excellent so...... it could have been alot worse

I heard it's looped samples from the original Tron score with a vocoder going "score... Tron 2 score..." for 2 hours.

Angelo Badalamenti would have been a better choice, at least it would show that they aren't trying to cater to 14 year olds idea of hip and cool.

i think its a fitting choice, because even though i think Tron is a badass movie, it is one of the most extreme film examples of style over substance and luckily Daft punk is one of the most extreme musical examples of this phenomenon

edit: a daft punk show actually looks really fun, like a universal studios ride
