i'm going to my first meeting tonight

well, i was going to cheat but now i'm actually going to suck it up - and try and do 30 AA/NA meetings by april 16th. so that means, i have to do one daily - tonight friday night - being my first.

i hope everyone is proud of me

i am no where near religious which is why i am very hesitant to go. but, i need the experience..it's time.

i'm not religious at all. it can still work without religion. it's a spiritual program. i know that may sound ghey but whatever.

i think we need a histogram breaking down by region where people smoke at AA meetings

nothing to it, really. just sit there, listen, and be open-minded. if they ask you to talk, you can say "pass" if you wish. when people speak, listen for the similarities, not the difference.

Big difference between spirituality and religiousness. In fact, mass religion is often quite devoid of spirituality.

This will sound so pretentious but....it makes sense to people who "get" it.

My dads been in aa for 15 years. It worked very well for him. He is not religious and he attests to a spiritual awakening. Good luck!

Been going to aa for 2 years. Well worth the trip. At first it was really tough, I was constantly pissed off at everything. But now I'm much better. The main difference is that before life challenges would destroy me, now they make me stronger.

Don't worry about the spirituality thing. Their definition of 'God' or 'higher power' is really loose. One guy I know used his grandma as a higher power at first because she didn't drink and he couldn't stop.

Just keep an open mind and be honest.

i ran into someone who used to sell me pure MDMA ...he was very comforting and definitely a different person

and ill admit it, i cried :(

this meeting was well worth it.
