It's a serial rapist bobcat.

I dunno, it seems odd that the bobcats would fuck every 2-3 nights for the last year and a half.

Actually I have no scientific basis for the above statement.

This was actually one of the creature's tamer nights. Sometimes it's howls are much longer and more painful sounding. My neighbor thinks it's a bobcat, but I have no idea as I've never seen or heard a bobcat ever.

 

The sound freaks my cat out, too. She stares out the window into the darkness letting out an angry guttural growl after every howl of the mystery creature.

mate, didn't read the rest of the thread because i HEAR EXACTLY THE SAME THING. probably about every fortnight. just this consistent howl every 5 seconds, usually around 3am. first time i heard it i ran to the window practically ready to call the police, but after awhile cooled my boots. figured it's cats fighting or fucking or something. sketchy the way it's always closer or more distant though.

like i said though - probably cat? im living in london.

Cats at night make some fucked up noisey shit. Often i think im hearing what sounds like a baby being beaten to death or a young child be raped. It really does sound that horrific. I always have to look out the window just to make sure everythings ok. Oh yeah and seagulls early in the morning, thats just as bad.

used to have what i think were jackdaws or magpies or the like outside my window. think they were eating all the spiders that lived there. had nightmares as i got woken up with window tapping and metallic, vaguely human-sounding death screams.

Playing that to your cat ftw.

They could be foxes, they can sound really weird.

When I was in London (Bromley) a few years ago I was told those screeching sounds were from foxes looking through the garbage outside.

I don't know where you live, but highly likely it's a fox or, as your neighbour says, a bobcat.

yeah foxes can make those kind of noises but it also sounds like a bigger version of the crying baby noise domestic cats make at night.

a better recording would be cool, maybe a mic out in the woods?

I made a sound recording of a cat going fucking nuts a couple of weeks ago. I was in my bathroom brushing my teeth when all of a sudden I heard something that sounded like a kid screaming. I opened my front door and started recording. You can actually hear me laughing on the recording but unfortunately my friend has my HDD Recorder at the moment, so I can't upload the sound, but I will as soon as I get it back...

It does sound like something is raped in the woods though.

Creepy recording. I was going to say foxes can make strange noises too, I hear them in the streets some times, but that doesn't sound like one to me. My first guess would have been some kind of bird. It didn't sound like a Bobcat to me but I don't know how much their call can vary.

I think it's a bobcat too. I've heard it at my parent's house before. It is scary as all get out. One time it was so loud my dad and I got flashlights and started looking into the woods to see it. After we started shining the lights it walked back deeper into the woods.
