Guest melotronic
yeah... squarepusher's little big-up of the festival looks interesting Quote Warp records’ Squarepusher... “The Glade is the best festival I have ever played in my life. It's always good to play to people that are up for a party and don't get too bothered about what algorithms you're running! It should be good fun checking out their attempts to translate my new emoto-prog / core- thrash songs into frenetic rave dance moves. Also, I might be premiering a new project there which depends on whether it's anywhere near ready. Could be good!” Squarepusher can truly be described as a friend and supporter of us and this year will be the 4th time he has performed but the first time he has headlined the outdoor stage on a Saturday night. This year he will be playing a full live set with drummer Alex Thomas including material both old and new. Squarepusher toured Europe in March and April this year and the show at Glade will be the first outdoor performance at a UK Festival. The show will include the interactive visuals that was taken on the road in the spring. In addition to their Glade Stage headline set he's hinted that he may use us as an opportunity to showcase some material from his next project on a smaller stage sometime over the weekend. Keep your eyes and ears open! :undecided: Edited June 19, 2009 by melotronic Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43728-glade-09/page/3/#findComment-1068835 Share on other sites

Guest butane bob
Quote This year he will be playing a full live set with drummer Alex Thomas including material both old and new. Sounds like the exact same set he played in Dublin this year. Bass noodling over backing tracks of Numbers Lucent Followed by most of Just a Souvenir Followed by more noodling over backing tracks of Big Loada etc. Grand I'd go see him a third time (can't remember any details of Primavera). His LED video walls are amazing, no drugs required. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43728-glade-09/page/3/#findComment-1071924 Share on other sites

Guest blutac
Quite up for Glade this year, last year was really good although I'm a bit annoyed they've moved the location. I think I've always complained about the noise, but really I think I'd prefer the same location and volume than a new louder location. How are they going to replace the trees in ID spiral. The year they had hammocks that might have been the greatest thing ever. Is the camping seperate from the music? Just had a fucked up thought - this will be my 5th Glade. I remember the first one right at the start of my raving days, really pushed me over into the person I've become now. Squarepusher and Aphex double bill is probably still the best rave I've ever experienced. The muddy year was the most confusing experience of my life. so many memories, so many drugs *nostalgia* it better be sunny Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43728-glade-09/page/3/#findComment-1079974 Share on other sites

I think it was - Luke Vibert, Plaid, Mike P, Squarepusher and Aphex one after the other. I've been chasing that high ever since, doubt if I'll ever find a night like that again. Apparently the first year (the one I missed) was as good as that, but none of the subsequent years have hit that in terms of music. Sounds been too quiet as well since the first year, or maybe I just had better hearing back then. Also quality of drugs was universally incredible for the first 2 years I went and then got pretty shit for the last couple of years. More business less hippies. I think the reason people complain about Glade is simply because the early ones were so fucking incredible, that expectations were at such a high. Guest Iain C
That year was absolutely brilliant, hands down my best festival experience I think. 2006 was great because more of my mates came down and all that sort of thing, but that lineup is untouchable. AE in 2006 were amazing though! Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43728-glade-09/page/3/#findComment-1080674 Share on other sites
Guest idrn
2006 was my first time at glade and one of the best experiences in my life. in stark contrast, 2007 was a quagmire of misery. Blir
Damn. 07 was my first Glade and first festival actually, I fucking loved it. 08 was far better though, amazing. I don't know why people are so jaded about Glade after 07, not like they could control the weather or anything. Still, can't fucking wait. Guest idrn
yeah, 2007 was a weird one - i think it was mainly the sheer contrast to 2006. we were just down from the toilets so a stream of shitty mud was running past our tents. i didn't come up on my mdma and spent the nights lying in the fetal position in the one corner of the tent that wasn't a puddle. then i got sick and had to keep running back from overkill to explode in toilets that couldn't be emptied because the poo truck couldnt get to it. that said, squarepusher was wicked! etc Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43728-glade-09/page/3/#findComment-1080762 Share on other sites
Solo Strike
2007 will forever be the year that one of my mates took a woefully inadequate tent with bamboo poles that got flooded, soaking all his clothes and dyeing them all with a mysterious blue ink that leaked from a marker pen. I think it was actually one of the funniest moments of my life to see him emerging from the tent in the morning wearing a dishevelled waistcoat, angrily hurling soggy waterlogged muffins into the ether in a fit of rage. I think it rained for 16 solid hours didn't it?! Christ above! Guest idrn
LOL, i assume that was Pat? i got a bit incredulous that they actually manufacture and sell tents in proper camping shops that are not waterproof. when the display model is surrounded by kendel mintcake and windup torches it doesnt really cross your mind to inquire if the fucking thing is actually waterproof - youd expect to get laughed at in your face if you did. so yeah, need to get a new proper tent, and if there's even the slightest hint of rain then a big fuck off anorak and wellingtons too.
