are there any DAWs better than ableton live?

i used to plug my speakers in with a bit of old power cord off a hoover

I will get into specifics later, but I have to go now. But it would be interesting to disect this problem and really understand how a DAW's internal resolution effects the sound, when it comes to mixing waves, adding effects (many of which limit themselves iirc), and whatever other changes are made to the sound.

I know what you mean. I think that people need to realise that unless you're a professional audio engineer or similar, audiophilia is an absolute curse. If you (hypothetic audiophile) have to spend £1k on a speaker cable to be happy with the sound, that's tragic for you.
