I'd have to agree on the IPA tip. dsc01685-medium.jpg

one of my semi-local faves ^

Shitfire, did you try the Imperial Ale out of Boulevard's Smokestack series? It was 11% in a limited run--I still see bottles all around. Take the stoutest Unibroue title you can think of and add a dash of grain alcohol and a foamy porridge of oats and bran and you'll approximate the experience. I couldn't finish the bottle. It was $15 so beware. If you want to get fucked up and have a strange meal in the process, this one's for you.

My friend told me to check this out but I haven't gotten around to it yet. The liquor store I usually go to has a few of these so I may pick one up after work this afternoon!

Funny you say this, the entire Unibroue line of beer has been widely applauded in North America for their marketing and labeling. It helped this little company to find themselves on beer shelves against giant brands. Each of them is a beautiful painting, often something out of hell or another type of myth or legend. They sell a lot of t-shirts for sure with those labels!

Currently: Stone IPA - Any suggestions based on that?

try some more beers of the same style if you like that style. there's a ton of IPAs out there, i like everything i've ever tried from dogfish head, their 90 and 120 minute IPAs are fantastic.

Cheers. I wasn't that into dogfish's 90 minute - it was ok. I enjoy IPA's with spicy ethiopian food...shiro wat - very nice.

Had a Maredsous last night.

The one I drank had a different label on it, though. 10%, but was only $6. Not bad.

Also had Black Butte Porter.

I was a little disappointed. It's not as bitter or flavorful as most other porters and dark beers I've had. Although the Anchor Steam Porter isn't the best I've had, it is much better than the Black Butte Porter.
