Max Payne 3

The Max Payne 2 nightmares were awesome indeed. Like those indoor theme park scenes, such fantastic twisted atmospheres and dark moods.

Well I'm a bit afraid a new developer will fuck this up. Look at what happened to it when Hollywood gave it a shot?

I'll look forward to Alan Wake instead. Which should be my favorite game ever in the making.

I don't think (read: I don't hope) they've replaced the film noir atmosphere with anything, because that's sort of the game's trademark. A Max Payne game with no cheesy comic book dialogue and monologue is no Max Payne game.

I'm with you guys. Hopefully this will be as good as the previous two!

I never played max payne 2 because so many people said it was incredibly short but on recommendation here I bought the package of 1&2 from steam for $15 today because I lost the first one and wouldn't mind playing it through first.

Even though Max Payne 2 is extremely short (about 5 hours of gameplay) it's still the best of the two Max Payne games. The monologue/narrative is brilliant. Actually, I wrote a paper on the style and narrative in Max Payne once - it's THAT great :)

I saw some mention of nightmare sequences, thats awesome because the 3 valkyr sequences in the first one blew my god damn socks off.

holy shit I can't wait to get home and play through these babies again. FAN-TASTIC!

Also, I think that they might be trying to avoid getting their new game compared to that piece of shit movie starring Marky Mark by changing the protagonist into someone rather different from that insufferable piece of shit Marky Mark portrayed. Mark Wahlberg's character in Max Payne The Movie was NOT Max Payne. Must have been his retarded brother.

What I mean is, that they had to take the game in a differnet direction... and I hope it's even darker than before.

I don't know man. I loved Max Payne 1 & 2. Second one is still one of the most amazing cinematic game experiences I've ever had. And the packaging was amazing.

But this... It's in Brazil, the screens are colourful and sunny and the things I can read are "new beginning" and "goodbye hollywood". Sure it's too early to say this will be a bad game. But I wanted to see something grim and depressing and this looks like the complete opposite. New developer, new beginnings, from NYC winter to tropical paradise...

I'll continue to keep an eye on this. But from what I've seen, this looks like a completely different game.

It must take place some time in the near future because his beard is grey as well.

While I really like what the original games are like, I also have alot of faith in Rockstar and will stand strongly behind them in any decisions they feel are necessary

* The game takes place 12 years after Max Payne 2, although if what happens between MP2 and MP3 will be in the game is unknown.

* There will be a cover system for the game.

ugh so this basically sounds like Rockstar could afford the licence since 3D realms is closing down, and they are going to make a random unrelated game and cash in on the licence.

I really hope this delivers or I will lose alot of respect for Rockstar. They are one of the few game developers that hardly (if ever) release a shitty game.
