girl skateboards offer these promotional items.

i don't think they got around to reshooting anything. they thought the kid was too real acting and wanted to reshoot everything but spike got his scary and bleak realism movie. there is CG post on the heads though.

Oh those are cool. Doesnt Jonze co-own girl skateboards?

he along with mike carroll and eric koston. its been weird to follow these careers. i remember when jonze was shooting pics for transworld and tom schmidt was writing for big brother magazine. weirdly the first puppet faces pics leaked on those decks. skateboard.

really like the trailer aside from the music

yeah me too, the scenery looks insane, i don't see any noticeably fake backgrounds or blue screen which is sadly guaranteed in a fantasy movie these days

Yeah, I noticed the exact same thing and I bless Spike Jonze's soul for this.

It looks interesting and beautiful...apart from the music used in the trailer. I have never read the book and I'm not sure I want to until I've seen the movie.

the book itself is really short and i doubt that reading it is going to spoil the movie for you.

It seems like a much looser adaptation of the original book than Polar Express the movie was to it's book counterpart.

also something about the monsters/guys in suits doing crazy stunts like jumping and throwing eachothers i find highly appealing, like some sort of weird supernatural kung fu movie from the 70s

also, i want to say that salvatorins comment was what i was thinking when i watched that first vid. but it'll probably end up working well in the context of the actual movie, so we'll see.

Someone explain to me why everyone loves Where the Wild Things Are?

I've never read the book. Should I?

it's a classic book. Sendak is an awesome illustrator and writer.

I'd love to see a film rendition of Sendak's "In the Night Kitchen" - that would be some trippy shit.

I agree on all counts. The music was a tad much, just a bit too hipsterish. But then you see the squiggly text and Dave Eggars name and you go, ah it makes more sense. They are targeting hipsters who grew up on the book, not just current children. I think that was initially the main problem with the movie if Im not mistaken, was the angle of the sell. Personally would have preferred a more mainstream looking trailer. That said, love love love whats in there. I love that it looks like there's some action. These puppets jump, fly, get thrown around, beat up, its perfect. You cant do that and sell it with CGI. Lots of smart creative decisions at play here, I cant wait to see it.

GOD DAMN IT

EDIT: also looking forward to the forthcoming film adaptations of "The Ball Bounced" and of course "Counting to 10 with Elmo and Friends!"
