I'd love a Kindle and have been contemplating the purchase of an Eee Pc substitute—I'd fill it with PDF's and e-books and would also have the added portability of a useful netbook. Wish I'd have acted when they were offered for ~175$ on woot.com.

You laughed. There are two options as to why:

 

1.) I was wrong and E-Books are, in fact, less sustainable somehow than physical books.

2.) You are short-sighted (this could be either natural or due to a blinding bias - ie Al Gore punched your mom in the face so now you can't allow yourself to agree with him) (see figure 1 below)
