I just think it's funny to see people who voted for him upset about this. He was very clear about it throughout his campaign. I think the real problem is that a lot of people didn't believe him. They probably thought he was saying it for political gain. He had to appear tough to get more of "middle America's" vote. That's how a lot of so-called liberals think, at least the ones I've talked to. It's ok to lie as long as you're fooling people for their own good, unlike those damn Republicans who lie for... political gain. Now we have a guy who is doing what he said he would do and some of his base are actually upset about it. How fucking stupid.

Its deeper than that. He said he would do the same thing we are doing in Iraq, but in Afghanistan. the people who voted for obama didnt like what we were doing in Iraq.

uh, i believe the #1 reason people didn't like the iraq war was because iraq had nothing to do with al-qaeda or osama or 9/11.

you honestly think afghanistan has anything to do with 9/11? this country seems to consider the afghan war a justified endeavor and obama's position on it is simply going to get wider and wider. he isn't going to make popular decisions now that he's been elected, not in this first year. that's just the reality of politics, especially the chicago political background he's from. look at his stance toward palestine; it's a disaster. you have to understand these wars in terms of their being proxy wars between the us and europe, which is what the second gulf war was. it's two different perceptions of imperialism and obama isn't just going to shift the tide of things because he made some vague promises when he was being elected. he'll renege like every other president that claims they're going to change things. the world is in economic meltdown, guys.
