whats the difference between breakcore and drill n bass?

to my ears, they both seem to be heading in the same direction, towards the infinite possibilities of music

rules are meant to be broken

breakcore: distortion, randomness, horror movie samples, etc made by people who listen to metal or industrial or something

drill n bass: melodic drum n bass with snare rushes and all sorts of random DSP, made by people who listen to aphex twin and squarepusher

go on...

most breakcore artists seem to jump around doing karate chops and stuff

i listened to venetian snares filth yesterday. i was amazed that he is still doing his style of filth..."i want to drink the seamen in your condom". is breakcore always involved with this level of sexuality and immaturity?

does anyone else but me see the similarities between the two genres?

Drill n Bass was popular from 1995 to 1997 and was exclusively released on Warp and Rephlex. (The Flashbulb is an exception but he sucks.)

Breakcore is only produced by bedroom producers who release it through labels with no criterion.

the difference is that breakcore has a very very tenuous relationship with underground english dance music in that it involves sampling

it is directly evolved from crap metal, made by and for crap metallers, who entirely missing the point, fail to hear past the fast noisy angry shouty elements because they are young and spasticky

no, I'm just saying that that statement isn't true. I've been DJing jungle for 12 years now and breakcore records make a lovely addition to my collection.

I also haven't been a teenager for quite some time now.
