so i've got one cat doing nothing behind the washing machine (looks like he's waiting to die) and one trying to inspect every crevice and item in the flat

my roommate's cat hid for days when he brought him home. it wasn't until i forcefully pulled him out of the hiding spot and then held in my lap that he started hanging out in the open

Be wary of the one hiding behind the washing machine, hes waiting for the perfect moment when you are close enough to him, but destracted by his partner inspecting the nearest crack, he will have your balls and make you shit. Be sure not to make any phone interview plans for the next few weeks.

5:30 am: woken up after 2 and a half hours sleep to constant, very high pitched meowing, decide to give them their daily ration of meat - 'mushu' (one behind washing machine) is now in the corridor, he runs in to my room as i pass.. i put a bin in front of the gap to behind washing machine, go to feed mico first because he's already headed to the kitchen - go to find mushu, put food in front of him, leave him to eat .. check on him later and he's gone, lose chest of draws panel is removed, clothes pulled out, food untouched .. he runs to bathroom, meows even higher pitched than mico (at the sight of the bin he has to jump over, didn't expect that) .. he came out again later so i've secured the washing machine by pushing it close to the wall and putting the big heavy bag of litter in front of the gap .. ive put mushu's food away because he didn't seem like he was going to eat it and mico is a food addict who is currently causing havok in his attempts to get more food

i'm going to continue my cat training from last time i looked after them... mico was fat, but got thin and healthier (i made him chase food a lot) ... slow, fat mico was less of a problem tho. i don't get how cats can become this disfunctional. i know mico raped mushu a bit before he became a lady

i like cats.

my roommate's cat just pooped on top of a dvd, which was about 6 feet from the litter box.

this is proving difficult. mushu's new hiding place is 3 inch high space under wall-shelving. if i put the food bowl in there it's impossible for him to eat it. mico gobbled down half his daily ration of nibbles in 20 seconds, and wanted more, before i'd even weighed mushu's portion (yep, i have to weigh their food). so i had to sit there for around 15 minutes with mushu, whilst he very slowly ate his nibbles and occasionally toss a single nibble somewhere so mico would run after it, to stop him clambering over me repeatedly to get at mushu's food.

mushu came out of hiding and has been looking around

also, flat-cats don't have any idea how far they can actually jump. they've been trying to jump stupid distances, like phone table in the living room to fridge-top in kitchen

try keeping the freaked out cats in a single room like the bathroom with food and litter

get used to smell and get attached to you when you visit?

hmm. they have a ration of this cheap pate that smells.. mushu doesn't seem to want it.. mico will eat anything. i replaced that with a small amount of real meat .. mushu ate it up instantly, they both went a bit mental and now they're looking happy and cleaning themselves (they haven't done that til now)

er, the owner said they can't have 'normal food', but that would mean crap, right? surely fresh meat is better than stinky pate

because the little bit of fresh meat has made them so happy, i'd rather give them that

Did he shake his head for a second once the food was in his mouth?  As in, "take a bite, quick shake, continue chewing"?
