Also love how that impressive scene with Leland and Maggie starts off a bit tacky, because the Giant is played by a Dutch actor who has quite a bad accent when saying "It is happening again."

The first time I saw that episode I thought "Oooh! So that's where that sample is from!"

Laura's Theme (the track he's playing there) is a timeless melody and it really embodies the show so well. the brooding initial melody and the soaring hope-filled counter melody...really mimics how the show was full of moments that were at one moment funny, then beautifully touching, and then horrifying.

can't say enough. i listen to the soundtrack fairly often myself (although I always skip the songs with Julie Cruise singing.)

I've mentioned it before, but I had lunch with a girl a couple weeks ago that had a resemblance to Audrey Horn.

HIGH FIVE!

make sure to grab the (somewhat) recently released Twin Peaks Season 2 Soundtrack

And the soundtrack for Fire Walk With Me.

Btw. Fire Walk With Me isn't all that bad. I don't see why people hate it that much. The Red Room scene for one is brilliant, but I guess people were expecting more.

Oh yeah, my favorite part is when it switches over to The Man from Another World

DO NOT WATCH THIS CLIP IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN FIRE WALK WITH ME!

EDIT: Nah, just watch it... it doesn't reveal anything.

the scene in the train car with Laura and Bob (and Ronette Pulaski) is pretty frightening

The scene where Laura visits Harold Smith is pretty fucked up as well.

not related to Twin Peaks, really, but has anyone wanted Lynch (One)? Really good documentary made while he was making Inland Empire.

"Hey Sally....Remember me??"

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

Yeah, I bought it when I was in New York. It's great but it really gave me a different view on Lynch. I've always thought that he was happy 24/7 and that nothing could knock him out, but he gets really angry a couple of times during filming Inland Empire.

Also, it seems as if the guys who made this documentary had no idea about what they wanted to show the audience. We're just presented a bunch of footage of Lynch doing his thing and that's it.

But I must say, the documentary is a sample-fest. I've made use of that quite a lot.

Just out of curiosity, what gave you the impression he was happy all the time? I think most, if not all of his movies, have an undercurrent of anxiety..some of them, in fact, seem to be riddled with it, while others not so much. Given that, I think he came off in the interview almost exactly how I expected him to be... someone who is obviously very creative, but not too caught up on himself in the typical Hollywood way, talkative/friendly to a degree, and like anyone who deals with creative work, gets frustrated from time to time. I don't mean to say that I've considered these things in depth, sitting around wondering what David Lynch would be like in real life, but I guess I wasn't surprised to see that sort of personality depicted. I will be honest though, the maharishi mahesh yogi/transcendental meditation stuff still sort of irks me. When you hear him discuss what meditation does for his creativity, it makes sense to a point.. but when he starts to discuss the school, maharishi etc, it sort of makes him come off as a religious crack pot. If meditation works wonders for you, that is fine.. I suppose I just don't understand the need to slyly promote it through your work as a director.

Also, I agree about the doc being sort of aimless in a way, but I didn't mind it as it gave you a good general glimpse in to how Lynch works etc. Funny guy.

It's just that pretty much every interview or "lecture" I've seen with him has given me the impression that he's a really calm guy, and when he finally freaked out I was caught completely off guard.

I agree that pretty much all his movies (except The Straight Story) are dark and makes the viewer extremely anxious, but I believe I remember him saying that his movies are projections of his "dark side" (I've been looking for the YouTube video where he says this but can't find it) and that his movies don't reflect his personality. So when I saw him getting pissed because his crew was moving the wrong table I was thinking, 'what an asshole', but then again I know how fucking frustrating it can be working with people who don't do as you tell them to.

And yeah, the transcendental meditation parts are almost too much. I can see where he's going with it and it sounds really interesting, but I agree that he does come off as a religious nutcase from time to time.

As a matter of fact, now that I think about it... it's actually not a very interesting documentary. If it wasn't because I love his movies I wouldn't give two shits about it, because there's absolutely no point as to what we see. We just follow a creative guy who makes a couple of phone calls and talks about his meditation.

i stopped watching the documentary early on when he began raving about his cow-kill experience and he and the makers of the docu started to grunt like a bunch of beavis and buttheads. he makes some good art, but he certainly has a couple of loose screws and some personality issues which make him less likable.

lol. i sort of liked that, tbh. always good to hear an odd story.
