so i want a vaporizer but i dont want to fork out hundreds of dollars for the volcano. then i realized i dont even want to fork out $100 for a cheap one. id like to make my own with parts from home depot or something for around $20-$40 ish. im finding some sites, but nothing too promising

i was hoping at least one of you suckers have successfully made one yourself. and im not talking about those light bulb ones, i mean a real box with a tube and stuff. maybe one that plugs in, or sits on a stove burner or something. seems like something dr. hat would have tried

im just tired of smoking and having to worry about getting lung cancer. id eat it but i cant afford that much weed, and im not in a situation where i can grow my own

help me out

dr. hat has been using a Vaportechco Vaporizer for years. it's fantastic, but it's on its last legs due to heavy use. i will probably buy another one when it finally dies.

i have to say, because i know you smoke as much, if not more than i do, ET -- typically, i use the vape for my first 1 or 2 smokes of the day. if i go further than that, the vape won't really get me that high.

if you moderate yourself you won't have to resort to the bong. also good for work nights, weekend wake n bake, etc. but towards the end of a smoky friday night i can't go anywhere else but bong

this is news i didnt want to hear. people always told me that vaporizers give you a more pure high, while using less weed. i guess i just kind of assumed that that would mean a bowl amount would get me 2 x as high in a vaporizer. were they all wrong? is the truth coming out?

no, it's very, very efficient. but, after a certain point, i can keep hitting it and i don't seem to get high any more. i'd also say it's a different high, just as joints are different from bongs.

yeah maybe, but i just dont feel right about smoking something that has had all that whitening crap in it. doesnt seem like youd ever get it all out

even the clear ones, you still have all those thousands of tiny little fragments of broken glass and metal, and since this is all about being healthy, not getting high, its contradictory

health, oh. in that case, get a vape. if it doesn't get you high, stop smoking and do something else.

Yup, you're getting close to THE TRUTH. Vapes will give you a more pure high, but it's shorter in duration and often less intense than when you smoke. So you end up using more to reach the same effect (unless you enjoy a mild headchange). I've tried almost every type of vaporizer over the past 10 years(bubblebowl, hotbox, airgun, portable, volcano, etc)and that's the final conclusion I reached. If you have lots of pot, it isn't a problem. Having to reload the unit a few times to get the desired effect DOES get old.

One thing that's neat that I haven't tried is using all of the leftover vaped material in cooking. I'm not sure if they cook it in butter or what but apparently CBD, THC's sleepier cousin (but one with good medicinal effects) often times is still in the bud even after you vape it. So you can still get some use out of it.

Oh yeah, and you can eat a pretty small amount and get loaded. Try doing a search on 'firecrackers' in the Edibles section of icmag.com.

Here's what worked GREAT for me:

get around .5 gram of stuff

grind it up til it's almost a powder. more surface area exposed = better

make a small envelope out of aluminum foil, put the stuff in there and close it tightly(!). pinch the ends closed, fold them over a little bit and pinch closed again.

preheat your oven to about 210 degrees.

throw the envelope in there for about 10 minutes.

remove the envelope and dump it's contents into some kind of food, i've used yogurt in the past.

it comes on pretty quickly, up to 30 minutes from my experience.

it isn't a light effect either. the first time i tried it i was seeing stars and had to lay down for a couple of hours because my head was so heavy.

try it!

should i let it cool before attempting to peel apart the foil?? :omg:

sounds cool, want to try. i dont get why putting it in the oven is important though...wouldnt that just kind of unnecessarily cook some of the weed into the oven?

Putting on my weed geek hat: because thc needs to be heated to a certain temperature to activate it's psychoactive effects(not sure how active it is without the heat). With the oven temperature, you're trying to bring it to the cusp of where it turns psychoactive but not hot enough to vaporize the thing. It's been several months since I did it so i'm a little rusty. I'd suggest checking out that icmag.com to read up on it.
