I've seen "HD" via Netflix on the 360 - it's nowhere near BD quality, more like semi-decent HD broadcast quality, and not much of a step up from upscaled DVD. You must have a really, really good internet connection not to get compression artifacts and stuttering like I've seen on several 360s. Also, the PSN has a video store where you can rent or buy HD and SD content, which you can store on your main PS3 HD, or via an external drive. That's another thing that really rubs me the wrong way with MS - how much they charge for a HDD - I can get a 500GB laptop HDD

, pop out my stock HDD in my PS3, and pop in the new one, not voiding my warranty, for LESS than a 160GB HDD would cost from MS. And don't get me started on the 90$ WiFi addon... again, stuff that's part of the package, not extra, with a PS3. Free online as well.

But the reason MGS4 is not on the 360 is primarily due to it needing 50GB of storage space - MS should have made HD-DVD (well, not in retrospect, lol) the GAME format on the 360 - it might have kept HD-DVD from dying, and allowed developers to have more space for textures and data. Plus, the HD-DVD addon for the 360 was strictly for movies - MS couldn't make it for games due to the exact situation you're accusing Sony of doing, which is forcing the consumer to buy an addon to be able to play the latest games - but in Sony's case, they're up front with you, saying you want games like MGS4? You have to have a BD drive to do it.

How FF 13 looks/plays on 360 vs PS3 will be very interesting come 2010.

My PS3 is 100% backwards compatible; Sony changing their machines not to be fully BC was a business decision based on surveys showing most people (myself included) DON'T use their PS3 to play PS1/2 games all that much (hence the dearth of PS1 games on the PSN store), the fact the extra components were costing them a mint (and the PS3 is still in the red in terms of money lost on each console), and wanting to focus on their primary brand, PS3 games. Don't think for a second if Sony devoted the manpower to it, that they couldn't have backwards compatibility via software emulation.

hehe - see, told you.

So, I hear what you're saying - I don't know why, but the HD signal comes through without issue for me (although I have a friend who's signal should be the same, but can't get ANYTHING to come through HD now.) And, I totally agree about the Hard Drive bullshit - the price they charge for their proprietary drives at M$ is equally as ridiculous IMHOP as requiring the Blu-Ray. And, you're also right-on about the Wi-Fi (although I wouldn't ever trust my fragging to a Wi-Fi signal).

Don't know if I agree with the whole storage space issue w/MGS4 - I'd probably be totally fine playing the game on multiple DVD's if it was really a space issue. You're probably right that games in the future, as they just get larger, will start (I guess, shit, they already ARE becoming an issue) becoming an issue on just DVD's. Still can't bring myself to believe that there is a huge benefit to games on Blu-ray (at least not enough to justify the extra cost).

So, how about we say that there are benefits and deficits to both, that both Sony and M$ are, ultimately, trying to make money and that we, the user, will probably get fucked in the ass in one way or another - and also benefit in one way or another too.

Honestly? If someone bought me a PS3 today I'd probably be happy as shit. I DO love the Xbox controller for most things (FPS, platforming, etc), but I'm going to have an issue playing Tekken with it when it comes out. Wish they made generic PS3 controllers for the X-box but haven't found one yet.

Maybe in the future Sony and Microsoft will merge and make the ultimate Playbox 1080 with fully functional body suits that allow for uncensored Adult gaming experiences. . . then we can have a beat-off battle to determine the true victor in the gaming wars (and I WILL beat you at THAT game. no pun intended)

ok. pun intended.

LOL, trust me, I'm not saying 360 is a bad platform - I just don't think it's the superior/best one.

Sony/MS merging - never in a million years.

I would assume you'd get a proper fighting stick for Tekken....

Mate. I'd chip in on the console wars debate, but I'm not interested in some shitty argument that doesn't mean anything. It's as simple as the PS3 hasn't done anything to justify my purchasing it yet. If it gets something more worthwhile to me then great, but I have no reason as yet to switch.

maybe because i have mine in open air and my room is cool when i play my xbox, ie dosnt overheat.

the analogs on the ps controler suck..feels awkward and cheap. the xbox is strong feel great and has about 100% more control then the ps analogs.

u just need to hold on to understand.

Yeah, ditto on the PS3 - I'd love to have one if I had a couple hundred bones hanging around, just not my personal preference between the two

A Sony/MS merge would, indeed, be the equivalent of the Moon turning to blood red and the locusts swarming in a modern day biblical apocalypse.

See, I didn't even think about an arcade controller - shows how long its been since i've been in an arcade (do they even have arcades outside of japan anymore?)

@CMA - yeah i totally love the xbox controllers for almost evrything except fighters. solid, well fitting, and responsive.

@Obel Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma?
