jesus fucking christ you guys are ridiculous. this was an extremely entertaining, fun movie. it was well made, hit the right notes, yes there were weak spots (the ice planet sequence could have been completely cut from the movie and replaced with character development, nero was underdeveloped, tyler perry, leanard nimoy's dentures looked like they were going to fall out of his mouth) but c'mon, it was a great franchise reboot. it was better than the other trek movies (have you watched wrath of khan lately? because i just did, and it sucks). i really couldn't imagine it being better than it was, given that it was made by jj abrams and written by someone who worked on transformers. i'm happy with what i got. and my audience was into it as well. also i have major crush on zoe saldana. suck my dick.

This.

I'm not really a star trek "fan" nor am I easily impressed (anymore) with CGI infested bullshit empty action flicks but this had me sucked in from start to finish.

We saw this on opening day, really enjoyed the movie, the story was good, and nothing really bothered me about the plot or the characters. The Orion girl with the big boobies was a nice touch, even though her green skin looked fake. I wish they could get tinting skin "right", where things like the internal part of the mouth, etc. also had the correct tint of the skin's flesh colour. Ah well, nothing worth to slag a movie over.

Terminator Salvation, Up, and Transformers 2 (with T2 being the big winner this summer) all looked great. GI Joe looked a bit naff.

The Onion: Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As 'Fun, Watchable'

  Quote
... earlier today, paramount released this statement to ease fans concerns:

"We stand behind this film and firmly believe that in a few years, it will seem just as dated and cornball as previous Star Trek films"

The shakey cam cgi was really impressive in star trek on a few scenes and you might be right that it was a technique borrowed from B-star galact

DMTH or Terminator?  Because I can do the first three Terminators for less than $4, but I don't have the moola for cinema.

edit: Hence my drool puddles for Star Trek, Transformers, T:S.

Saw Star Trek last night. It was bland. Worse than watchmen and watchmen was shit.

Cgi was cgi, liked the non cgi stuff more. Laughed at Scotty. Wasn't moved by the plot.

i lol'd when i realised that:

they did that whole change the past thing so they can basically re-write the whole star trek universe. or am i missing something?

which i am quite looking forward to tbh:]

Yeah. I think that is the case.

IMO, it was a very clever idea.

I also think I am going to see it a 3rd time today.

loads of people clapped and i thought that was well dumb. :embrassed:

shame films take ages to come out isnt it. if that was a series episode every month i would go gaga.

did anyone catch that Scotty was sent to the ice world because he beamed Archer's (captain on Enterprise) dog into space? also, the diagonal rock in Mrs. Spock's back yard is a famous location called Vasquez Rocks that's been in a ton of cheesy sci-fi shows like Star Trek & Galaxy Quest, parodied in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.
