The limited CD Digipak/Booklet version is available from all good record stores and directly from www.dextro.co.uk. Released digitally worldwide on the 1st of June 2009.

16k Records is proud to present ‘Winded’, the second full-length album from Dextro. With previous releases on Gronland Records, James Holden’s Border Community imprint and London electronic label Jumblefunk, the much-anticipated second album represents an important step in the musical development of the Dextro project.

Dextro is the alias of the Scottish musician and producer Ewan Mackenzie, whose musical activities as a drummer and keyboard player in bands and collaborations led to an aspiration to create music outside of the traditional band set up. As the Dextro project has grown, Mackenzie has sought to rely more heavily on live instrumentation. This is evident on ‘Winded’, a natural progression from the celebrated debut album ‘Consequence Music’.

Comments on Previous Releases:

Consequence Music (16k Records/Gronland Records 2006)

Dextro has made the kind of album that a stormy sunset sea would make given some studio time and a few gallons of talent” Boomkat

Consequence music is a tender yet energising classic” Clash Magazine

Satisfying with its gentle harmonies, but also often taking stark left turns into the unexpected. Highly Recommended” Rock Sound Magazine

Do You Need Help? (Border Community 2005)

Everything from the subtle groove through to the melodies and sounds of this laid back electronic track oozes quality, and whilst some might say it borrows slightly from the likes of Air, the programming and arrangement is simply inspirational” Progressive-Sounds.com

Animism EP (Jumblefunk 2004)

"An absolute gem of a record this. 4 tracks taking everything from melodic synths, plaid style breaks & some serious brushed soul. If you lean towards Boards of Canada or Ulrich Schnuass then its for you, in fact its for everyone" Rough Trade

Edit: nevermind, I listened to the one track on his site. Sounded pretty good. I'll give it a whirl.

last album was out on Groenland, only his single 'Do You Need Help?' was out on BC prior to the album (by over a year).

This is out on his own imprint, and the product is better for it - lovely digipak with 16pp full colour booklet.

Been stuck in my multichanger in the car for 6 months now. Track 3 - Momentary is mana of musical genius.

Worlds Most Underrated artist, been saying it for years now.

lol, no.

the fact that i count the man as a good friend, and that he plays live drums on occassion for Rubens, has little bearing on how I regard his musical output under the Dextro guise. It's brilliant, whether I pass comment on it or not.

FACT!

Got my copy on Friday. Some seriously awesome photography on the packaging. Sounds pretty cool so far. . why no vinyl?

expense I think - would need a double 12 - not cheap.

If the initial release gets picked up, I daresay a vinyl release may be on the cards. It deserves it.
